Elegant Barber Shop — Local services in New York

With everything going on (COVID related lockdowns), I was lucky enough to find Elegant Barbershop down the street from my house open.

Went in for the first time around July 2020 and was amazed at the well kept shop and operated/owned by the barber himself (Mike) - a very well-spoken, hospitable individual and above all an excellent barber. First time I got a cut, was impressed and now getting a 2nd cut, looks like I finally found my go-to barber for as long as I live in NY.

I'm originally from South Jersey and had the same barber in South Jersey for over 10+ years, so for me to find the right barber after moving to NY for 3.5 years was definitely challenging. Came across a few decent barbers but beyond satisfied and impressed with how Mike cuts hair. Tremendous job on the fades (sides and back) and also great scissor skills (top hair) given I'm trying to hold on to the bare minimum that I have left - lol!!

Last but not least, a big S/O to Mike for the great cut, amazing prices and above all for keeping a safe and healthy environment while running the business!! Point to be noted - Mike and the clients, both keep their masks on...

I’ve been going here for 10 years, and the only issue I have with the barbershop is that it’s not the most well known and acclaimed one in the city. The haircuts here are always top notch, accurate to request, and fairly priced. Never once have I been dissatisfied with a haircut from Mike. Speaking of him, he’s such a class act, always tries to make everyone feel at home and he remembers all his loyal customers. He’s remembered stuff about me that even I forgot about 😂. I’ve gone to someone who wasn’t him two times for a haircut since I’ve been going here, and both times neither of them could even come close to what he does. Also, the reservation service that Elegant has is amazing, it’s always great to walk in and instantly start your haircut. I have been coming to Mike for 4 years now. Since day one he has always been accommodating to make sure he is able to fit you into the schedule. I really like that you can call him and pick the time your able to come in and secure your spot, you don't have to come in and wait for an hour until your turn; you can go about your day, come in for your appointment time and your in and out. There's a couple of shops in the area, but none compare to the service you will receive here. If your looking for a new barber for life, Mike is your guy. I know I'll keep coming here for years to come. He also fixes watches/ battery's and has haircare products to sell like, hair wax, gels and etc which I have purchased throughout the years and...
