Highly recommend this restaurant. The workers are nice and treated me with respect and care. The restaurant was clean. The light music in the background gave a pleasant ambience.
I have eaten here three times, once with my girlfriend, once with a friend, and once with some family members. Each time, the food was succulent, tasty, and fresh. Smiles all around.
Main Courses When I went with my girlfriend, I ordered breaded chicken, which came with rice, beans, and a plantain. I don't even remember what my girlfriend ordered because I was so in LOVE with this chicken. I added lemon all over it. It was to die for, seriously, having a faint taste of colombian in the beans and rice. I know that one thing my girlfriend ordered was a sausage (translated from Chorizo). No joke, the chicken and the sausage are phenomenal. If you are anywhere in Queens, you NEED TO TRY THIS. You will not regret it.
When I went with my friend, I had an order of platter of colombian lands (translated from Bandeja Mis Tierras Colombiana). I wanted to try a little of everything, wherefrom the waitress recommended me this. My friend had an avocado salad with chicken. My plate was very good, while my friend's salad was simply beautiful. I had to have some of his as well. There was so much food that I could not fit a dessert.
When I went with my family, I had already experienced some foods, so I recommended the breaded chicken and the salad. To some of them, I recommended the platter because they had a big appetite. For everyone, I told them to order a side of sausage. They loved it all.
Dessert The Tiramisu dessert is superb. It was soft and smooth with a light taste of coffee. I had the flan and the three leche cake, each was okay, but I preferred the Tiramisu.
Drinks I mainly had water throughout my meals. I tasted from one Mojito and one Pina Colado, which were delicious. The last drink I had was a sweet expresso that was really good. I would recommend these...

The restaurant is spacious and always has a festive atmosphere, so as soon as you enter you feel at home. They always welcome you with good energy and a nice smile, most of the people who work there are Colombians so they know very well how to make you feel like you're back in Colombia. They also offer the possibility of booking for a large group of people or for an event.
The menu is extensive and offers a variety of price options, including a weekly menu that varies depending on the day. They have something to share, from red meats, chicken and seafood in different presentations and preparations. We have tried the bandeja paisa and the Fríjoles antioqueños (my favorite), and the portions are huge, so even with just one plate two can eat. We also ordered the cheese and pineapple empanadas, which were super delicious. The fried fish and the ceviche are pretty amazing too. To have a lulo juice and a aguapanela with lemon, perfect for summer. They also sell cocktails or liquor if you want to drink alcohol.
The staff is always very friendly, they know the menu very well and offer good recommendations, and they are always very attentive to everything.

Walking into the restaurant we were greeted with death stares. Had me wondering if the place was closed or closing - it was barely 6pm & yelp showed them open till 11pm. Not welcoming to say the least. Finally, one of the house staff (that gave the initial death stare) asked how many & we can sit anywhere we like.
Once seated, our server was much more pleasant. The food came out quick & was not bad. The sancocho was great, but had no protein, so they provided a piece of rotisserie chicken. Which was probably hanging around house staff too long because it was way too salty. The dessert was a tres leches. The presentation was lovely, but it was frozen. This dish is pound cake that is soaked in the 3 milks. This was was a frozen cake served over sauce. Maybe they should try thawing before serving?
What is my experience with Colombian food? My parents are Colombian...I was raised in the culture...been to the country several times...was just there a couple of weeks ago. So the food in Colombia, second to none... the service, top notch - even in the most humblest of towns the people are so welcoming, eager to have you there. Our experience at Mis Tierras Colombianas is not a true representation...
