I've joined so many gyms and tried different classes to find a challenge and a place where I didn't plateau in a couple months AND THIS IS IT! As I'm writing this review, my shoulders and arms are sore beyond belief from yesterday's soul crushing work out. I'm still surprised whenever it happens ... last week was my legs =) I've been a member since 2017 and the work outs are always cleverly programmed, fun and demanding. Yes I said fun! =) The coaches and members are all welcoming and motivating to be around. Sean Wright the owner and one of the coaches there has the best strength and conditioning program ever. If you consistently come to class, YOU WILL see the results. If you don't believe it, I seriously recommend trying a class to see for yourself. You don't need to know everything, you just have to show up and the coaches will handle it from there. Everyone truly wants you to success and pushes each other to be the best version of themselves here and that energy and inspiration will spill into your everyday life. This community will be your 2nd family. The only regret you will have is not finding this place sooner. I'm telling you just come see what all the fuss is about!! You'll thank yourself...
   Read moreI've had the pleasure of going to various CrossFit and Strength & Conditioning gyms in NYC over the years, yet I was totally blown away when I walked into Grit City last night. It's a massive space, might be the largest CF gym I've been to before, and this allows them to have a ton of equipment available (Barbells, kettlebells, stones, sandbags), and even an indoor basketball court.
I took a free trial class with the owner, Sean, and he did a wonderful job of making me feel welcome and leading my class through a full-body warm-up, technique, strength piece (back squats) and a ten minute conditioning (cardio) workout to finish things off.
The class was great, workout was tough (but manageable), and the other members were very welcoming. I can tell they have a great community that are very motivating and friendly with each other. Long story short, if you're in the area (Bronx, East Harlem, UES), I can't recommend Grit City enough. Whether you're a long time athlete or someone looking to begin their fitness journey, you won't find a better gym in the area to workout...
   Read moreThis place has truly changed my life because I’ve always hated the gym. I used to join gyms like Planet Fitness and quit in 2 days until I came to Grit City.
I came in for the tour and was intrigued by the classes. It wasn’t like the aerobic classes I was accustomed to,(I didn’t know anything about CrossFit) and the vibe was good. I was offered a free class and it was one of the best workouts I’ve ever done. I’ve never done so many squats in my life!!! After that, I’ve decided to join.
I like the variety of classes that the gym has to offer and all of the coaches are great!!! I also love the community aspect of the gym. Everyone is so nice and very supportive. You can also purchase a protein shake, energy tea and protein waffles and protein donuts from Lito. They are delicious.
