Hotel room was clean, all be it quite small. Note no other amenities included. Despite having a no smoking policy throughout the establishment, we were plagued by the smell of Marijuana smoke throughout our 5 night visit. This came through the ventilation shafts during the evenings and we could smell it in the lift. For two non smokers this was a deal breaker.
Staff were friendly and pleasant but consistent with most customer service that I experienced in New York, ie they won’t go out of their way to help you if it’s not written in their job description.
The location is reflective of all the bad things that you hear about the Bronx. Many homeless, addicts and violent types around the surrounding streets. It is close to the Metro Subway but that also brings a large amount of unsavoury people around peak hour periods. It is VERY dirty with rubbish everywhere. We heard altercations in front of the hotel most nights and even experienced a woman screaming and being attacked on our way home coming out of the subway one afternoon. Quite a frightening experience. As a result, we chose not to venture out after dark for safety reasons.
As a tourist this is not a nice place to be, stay away from this area unless you are comfortable with violent and crime filled...

The front desk staff was kind and helpful and the cleaning staff was consistent and thorough. We stayed for a week and enjoyed the hotel. The surrounding area can be well described as "active" with many street vendors and sketchy people around, however we never had any issues or felt truly in danger despite sticking out in the crowd. The hotel is a quick (

We especially loved Jessica at the front desk! She was kind, knowledgeable, warm, and ready to give us so many recommendations in the area. She truly went above and beyond to connect with us throughout our stay.
I am a young white woman from Wisconsin... I never felt unsafe in this hotel or walking around the Bronx. Sure, it's good to keep an eye out and be generally aware of your surroundings (especially on the subway!). However, the locals were warm, inviting, funny, communicative, and full of life. I loved the Taco Bell right down the street as well as the nail salon next door. My boyfriend and I went into the local bodega's and explored the parks that were very family friendly.
& lastly - yes, this is a real review. The reservation was made under my boyfriend's name, however - I love to review places I travel, especially if their customer service goes above and beyond. Thank you Jessica for treating us so kindly...
