Midas — Local services in New York

Came here for new tires with a coupon from the website. Was seen by staff who was polite , showed him to my car and told him what I needed. New tires, and a new day time running light. Says that I cannot use the coupons with the tires he has in stock. I said we would move on with tires that he had there. He did NOT quote me on this nor let me use any of the coupons on the site or the one I had brought. Usually in my experience the shop calls you and tells you the cost and THEN asks if you want to go through with it. I come back the work was done fairly well, A little messy/ rubber on the rims etc. but seemed okay until I got the bill. Almost $900 ($867) dollars for new middle of the line Good Year tires and alignment? (Can't get new tires and not have them aligned right?) I felt this was WAY steep but paid anyway. I understand retail business and that the tires are marked up but they retail for less than $100 dollars each on most all websites. (set of four $380) Midas Maspeth charges $543) OVER 40% more than retail on tires websites! Without tire disposal fee. I asked about the day time running light by telephone and the person who took care of me said he had forgotten because it was "busy" even though I had put it in the appointment listing of services needed. He said that he would get back to me on the running light and it has been five days since I brought my car in and nothing. The issue is that they lull people into a false sense of security but are deceptive/not up front with prices and the work is just "Good" not great. Lucky for them that they are so "busy" during times where businesses are dying left and right. The next day I was texted a link to a customer satisfaction survey and filled it out negatively with a similar review and was not contacted about how they could have made my experience better. So that showed me that they don't care about the customer service side of business. The only reason I'm giving them 1 star is because the site doesn't allow me to proceed unless I do. They deserve 0 stars. Went in today to get my squeaky brakes checked. Took my car there because they'd replaced my shoes several years ago and Midas claims they have a lifetime warranty. After waiting 2+ hours, a technician tells me I need front and rear shoes and rotors. The cost: may short of $800. When I inquired about what my lifetime warranty covers, I'm told they can't find me in their system. Interestingly, they found me in their system when I first checked in. The manager said that if the car had been serviced there for brakes, it would have appeared on their warranty site. Clearly, however, that is not the case. I asked if they didn't think it was odd that I was in their system for one thing but not the other and got shrugs and eye-avoidance in response. Lesson learned: keep your receipt when these guys fix your car. Feeling like I was being scammed, I drove 2 minutes away to Pep Boys and asked them to check my brakes. I shared the Midas diagnosis with them and, upon checking, they assured me my problem was limited to my front brakes. I asked if they were certain and a manager reassured me that only the front brakes required attention. Midas committed the dual sins of attempting to rip me off and having no explanation for their inability to find my warranty information in their system. Bottom line: they can't be trusted in more ways than one. I saved over $400 by getting a second opinion. Needless to say, I'm never going back to this Midas location and would recommend that, if you do, you make sure to keep your receipt for the rest...

Friendly Knowledgeable and they went the extra mile to explain all that was needed for my inspection to pass in details! Their commitment is 💯! They showed me and I was appreciative bc they helped me with everything! When the car was ready for pick up I showed up a bit after they closed. I called and said I was in the cab but I was almost there. Gene waited for me and wasn’t upset at all. Very supportive Ty! Gene so much and helping me get the best deals! and waiting for me! I tell they all work as a team! My car runs perfect! I am so grateful to them! Tony explained all in detail regarding what it needed!Tony works hard very efficient does not waste time!
