To be clear, part of the reason for the low rating is because of the neighborhood it is in.
Prior to this last trip to Net Cost, I would have given it 4 stars. It is a decent european grocery store, with excellent Feta Cheese and an okay selection of eastern european smoked meats and other specialties. The staff is never overly friendly, but they are rarely rude. Prices are decent (great on some things, not so much on others). Pretty run of the mill grocery store, but with more affordable eastern european options than most other places in Brooklyn.
However, last weekend we went to stock up on Feta Cheese. We parked the car (badly) so I got the 2 small children out, and my partner got back in to fix the parking job. A car tries to muscle his way in while my partner is fixing the parking. I tried to wave him off and tell him we were not leaving, just fixing the parking job, and he the man gets angry - hurling verbal and hand obscenities my way. Eventually he swears at me again and drives off. When we came back out of the store, one of our tires had been slashed. Piece of the knife was still inside.
The part that really irks me is that there are always store staff outside, and we were RIGHT in front of the store. Someone had to see what happened, but no one did jack** to stop it or to let us know.
I'll overpay for feta cheese from now on, it will...
Read moreI'm a regular costumer for 8 years now. Today I really got disappointed and regretted all the time I used to shop there. As I walked to the cashier, as usual I use my netcost market card for discounts but this time...there's no discount even though when I got the salmon there's a sign that says such a thing. I asked the lady what's wrong and suddenly she looked so angry in my eyes and started yelling at me. Also after I asked to calm down and be kind with her costumer she started laughing and asked for a manager.A young blonde guy walked in and started talking to her, but to make me feel unwanted they spoke in Russian. I was feeling so ignored even though they didn't know that I can understand what they are talking ...Even if I was wrong..I just tried to get the right explanation from them and I always kept calm even though I'm the one who is mistreated here, and they showed clearly that they really do not care for costumer assistance when they told me to never be back there... I was surprised with their behavior because as economics says, a costumer is a God for the business, even if they are wrong. I believe the general managers will take care and be really tough when they choose people to represent them because they represent their business. With...
Read moreLocal manager by name Irakli better be replaced by a more adequate manager (like Marina, who's currently is an assistant manager at the main office). Irakli doesn't seem to understand the risks associated with selling spoiled cooked food, like a salad made from mushrooms and mayo. Instead of apologies and refund in full he started to explain that he isn't going to refund the money - apparently whatever you had to spit out, he wants for the customers to bring back in that same container for him to weigh. Sorry, but what if he will just place it back and will try to resell - where's guarantee he won't? Spoiled food supposed to go to the garbage, but apparently that's not the case with Irakli at NetCost.
He also could not care less about wearing PPE (face mask 😷), as well as some other staff (not all) during pandemic - apparently thinking if no other manager or staff or customer seen that, so didn't any of the viruses.
This used to be a better store...
