Came back home with a load of groceries. Managed to open the apartment door , got in, and the door slammed back on it's own. No big deal, until I tried to go back out. That damn door refused to open. For 10 minutes I tried everything I could but it didn't budge. I didn't have the superintendent number so i end up calling 911. "What's the emergency, fire or medical" said the operator. In very apologetic tone I replied "Well neither. I am not able to get out of my apartment, the door is jammed". Her: "Don't feel sorry Mam that is an emergency. Sending the fire department right away". 3 handsome fireman arrived within 10 minutes. Yelled if can hear them to move away from the door. They basically burst the lock. But the most admirable thing was how genuine they were. They stayed 20 minutes trying to to temporarily fix the door to make sure I am secure overnight.
