Nieves Latin Dance Studio — Local services in New York

Love this dance studio. They have a great kids program and adult classes. Very experienced teachers. I originally joined the school only to lose a few pounds, ended up hooked on salsa (lost the weight too!). The classes progress, and you can see yourself improve over time. It's also awesome to see people of all nationalities, white, black, Latinos, Asians, Indians everyone! dancing and having a good time together. I enjoy connecting with our community. This studio has improved my life in many unexpected ways !

*Update: I became the teacher here (after the pandemic) for the adult dance program. From being an avid student of Nieves for many years, and then training as performer and instructor, I obviously have the highest regard for the studio and will always recommend students here. What I love most now, from a teacher's perspective, remains the feeling of acceptance and community we share. I decided To try this location out with a Groupon and it was a terrible experience. My three year old daughter left in tears and terrified of the unprofessional “ballet instructor” at the Bronx location. (Blonde/heavyset lady) she does more running around than actually teach and doesn’t even wear proper attire for the lessons, also takes a break to drink pepsi in a 45 min class. After a second trial class she screamed at my daughter for glancing at the window in front of parents and I had to leave with her in tears after 20 minutes into the class. Very disrespectful to be screaming at other peoples kids, especially mine. This location should definitely invest in a new instructor who actually enjoys working with kids, has proper training and sends out good vibrations to the children. TERRIBLE! I've been coming here to learn salsa and bachata for about a month now, and I can confidently say that taking classes here has been an ABSOLUTELY AMAZING EXPERIENCE! The studio is clean, the ambience is very family-like, the students are welcoming and patient, and the instructor (Jennifer) is THE BEST!!
