I had a disturbing experience today at Broadway Plaza involving an unmarked tow truck and an aggressive, unidentified operator.
After briefly stopping in a handicap space to let large trucks pass, my mother left the car and forgot her wallet, I ran up to hand it to her and I returned five minutes later to find my car hooked up. The tow operator: Refused to identify himself or his company, Demanded $140 cash only, Refused to provide a receipt, and Threatened to keep my car until Monday if I didn’t pay immediately.
NYC law requires tow operators to provide ID, accept credit cards, and issue receipts but none of that happened.
Broadway Plaza needs to investigate this immediately. Whether this person was contracted or not, it’s unacceptable and unsafe to allow this kind of behavior on your property.
UPDATE: Additional warnings: please be mindful of the crooked towing company that operates here. I made a formal complaint and got a call back only for the “manager to throw a bunch of unclear, not transparent, non-sensical excuses at me. They’ll scam you and pretend they have the right because of a bunch of nonexistent loopholes. I’d be willing to take this further but at this rate they clearly need the money more than me. They towing company is called NELLY...
Read moreMy aunt is a frequent patronizer of the stores in this mall until recently. WARNING TO WOMAN WHO GO HERE ALONE AND HANDICAPPED PERSONS. On her last visit, my aunt who just had knee surgery and had a cane made a much needed trip to Aldi. She purchased her items and when she went back to her car she noticed that it was missing! Security claimed that she had left the mall. What they did was see that she was alone and looked to be not going to a store in the mall and trailed behind her to tow her car when in reality she going to a nearby trashcan. The mall security was of no help and NOT in uniform! Instead of aiding in the situation, he stood there with his hand on his taser and a smug look and the other men surrounding my aunt, all not in uniformed just yelling at my aunt who has a cane. If she did not come out when she did her car would have been gone and there would have been no notice and noone whose associated with the mall to help. Hopefully this has not happened to anyone else and WILL NOT because of this post. Ladies be alert if you are parking here and handicap persons, please be prepared to have no assistance from security. And to other patrons BEWARE they are towing cars of mall patrons claiming they are not...

This place is ok. Some great deals at BJ's - The wine shop is helpful. I've eaten at a few of the fast food joints.
It would be cooler if there were more local businesses instead of these larger chains that remove money from the community. Local businesses would bring more heart and soul and culture.
I think there are a few vacant storefronts still. It would be awesome if the owner found tenants instead of keeping them vacant.
I also wish it was more pedestrian friendly. The cars are thick here.
The trees in the parking lot are nice, but could use...
