I’m new to the neighborhood and had been to this convenience store a few times without any issues everything seemed fine at first. But after today’s experience, I won’t be returning.
My son bought a pack of M&M’s on our way to the beach (just two minutes from the store). When we got there, he told me all his M&M’s had fallen. That’s when I saw the package had been opened from the bottom not by him, but already like that when he bought it.
Inside, the M&M’s were completely dry, and half the package was gone not because he ate them (he didn’t even get to try one), but because the candy fell out due to the damaged packaging.
I went back to the store to request a refund or a replacement, and the man working there refused, saying he couldn’t help because “half the bag was gone.” I explained that it was their damaged product that caused the issue, but he still wouldn’t do anything.
What really upset me was when he told my son, “Don’t lie to me.” That was completely uncalled for. My son was just explaining what happened, and instead of treating us with respect, the employee chose to be rude to both of us.
When I told him I would be filing a complaint through 311 and that he was losing a customer over a $3 item, he said, “I don’t care if I lose one customer I have many.” He mentioned he wasn’t the owner, just an employee.
This was a very disappointing experience. I try to support local businesses, but this kind of treatment and lack of accountability is unacceptable , especially when it comes to selling food in...
