I did my first hike ever with Outlandish for their Juneteenth Hikish. Even though the hike almost took me out lol (the leader went faster than I anticipated and I’m a beginner) I was proud of myself for completing it. It was more climbing than I imagined. But Ken was a sweetheart! After the hike I had a lot of pain in my knee and he told me how to treat it when I got home. It felt MUCH better the next day. I LOVE that they offer rental hiking boots and trekking poles. Im looking forward to a future hike and meeting new people.

Excellent hiking store with a well curated selection of gear This is a great place to get quality gear for hiking, trail running, or just braving the winter. They also have summer wear. The store manager, Ken, was extremely helpful, and we would certainly go there again. Pro tip: ask for state park and forest hiking recommendations in the NY/NJ area, you won’t be disappointed!

Expert staff with product recommendations, friendly and they have weekend hiking trips every two weeks. Great selection from around the world that you can’t find at REI. Glad they are in the neighborhood

Let me start by saying I do not work for Outlandish in any way. I am just a very impressed customer, and very happy to have a store like this in the neighborhood!! No more sitting in traffic going to DT Brooklyn or SoHo!

TLDR Review: Super cute store w bangin' playlist. Beautiful decor Well thought out product inventory Very community and mission driven Carries big brand names AND women/POC owned brands Offers bi-weekly hiking group meetups! Probably gonna put up a climbing wall or archery range in the outdoor space!!

Reader's Digest Version: Between the interior decorating to the product inventory, I love everything about Outlandish. Founded by two long-time friends and nature enthusiasts (including a Brooklyn native), Outlandish offers ALL the big name products you could want without having to sit in traffic to get to downtown Brooklyn or SoHo (or further ruin the environment by shopping online) - and its all at great prices! They're super mission driven, making sure that nearly half of the brands they carry come from well-sourced, POC and women owned brands, and even had a woman owned, POC owned interior design company furnish the insides. They offer biweekly hiking, all sorts of recommendation, and are a completely mission driven company - promoting equity and equality all the while enmeshing hiking culture into local...

I just bought a pair of trail running shoes here! I came in knowing absolutely nothing, and Ken made me feel completely welcome and supported. This is the singular best customer service experience I’ve ever had for shoe purchases. He was the most thorough explanation of shoes I’ve ever received, and he’s an honest to god expert in the subject. I commuted about an hour to specifically shop here because I liked its ethos and sense of community-building, and it was worth every minute going...
