First, it’s Vietnamese place and it’s not the best Vietnamese food in the city. It might be a good option for Crown Heights because there are not many Vietnamese places around, but again, food is below average and overpriced. Well, it’s not the reason why this place got one star from me. The main reason is their cashier- woman. It’s a white woman in mid 30s, nasty mean woman with too much attitude. She is extremely rude and not welcoming to the customers. I went here two times and both times was pretty bad - thanks to her. My second visit was the worst. I wanted to place the order and said “I’d like Pho grilled chicken” and she kept interrupting me before I could even finish. “Stay or to go?” Calm down lady. We will get to that point and I will tell you. Another thing is that she didn’t bring me food when I stayed, but she did bring food to others. Strange, right? Too much personal hate I guess, but why? On top of that I didn’t like being there and seeing her going outside and smoking right in front of the entrance when she is in charge for carrying trays with open food and giving it to the customers. My advice to the owner. Hire someone who doesn’t smoke and knows that customer experience is 50% of your success. Fire that lady and don’t be cheap with ingredients or if you offer pho with just a few ingredients at least charge $7 not $10. No one will buy your chicken broth for...
Read moreI asked “are the ingredients all natural?” And the girl said yes. “Maybe with like tea or juice?” “Yea, we make it”. I’ve gotten bubble tea with herbal tea or juice in the past and that’s the only kind I drink. Then I asked if I could combine two flavors and she said no. Why? Because those flavors wouldn’t work together. So there’s no physical reason they can’t just put the two together, she just just wouldnt because that idea grossed her out. I’ve been a barista and the process is as simple as using two squirt bottles right next to each other in the same box into the same cup as opposed to one (think, mocha and Carmel).
As they started pouring some fluorescent green junk into my cup I asked “can I read the ingredients on that bottle?”. Polysorbate 80, artificial colors and flavors and sweetener. “You literally lied to me” “I don’t know what natural means”….. “than why didn’t you say that or offer to let me read the ingredients in the...
Read moreThis is one of my two go-tos for Vietnamese food in the neighborhood. There aren't a lot of vegan options on their menu but there are the tofu rolls, tofu salad, and tofu vermicelli bowl that I can get (and I get peanut sauce instead of the regular dressing) - and luckily, I really enjoy them. The bubble teas are also some of my favorites, and they have non-dairy creamer as their "milk" or non-milk teas as well. (Although, I think the Thai milk tea uses condensed milk.)
It's too bad their pho isn't vegetarian or vegan - the broth is not veggie-friendly, even for the tofu pho. Also, the tacos use flour tortillas, so I can't eat those either.
But the few vegan options are good, and the staff is pretty friendly and helpful for...
