After all those Katrinas demolished the old wood covered pier it undergone some huge face-lift. The wood planks were replaced with some plastic boards that look like wood but dot get damaged with weather elements or tourist's smokes. The structure got fixed with some concrete, benches were added, some solar panels that feed the lights, roofs that provide shadow to visitors yet stay airy and don't degrade over time, at least not fast. Great job, must be some professional landscape whatever it's called designer company. Really on the level with new city...
