Sawasde Thai Cooking — Restaurant in New York

Ordered lunch special for delivery and was shocked by the service I received. I'd asked to be texted when they arrived and I would come downstairs. The guy first calls me SCREAMING into the phone and I don't understand a word he's saying but hear "I'm coming!" So I calmly tell him no worries, text me when he arrives. He called me back a few minutes later yelling again and I said I'm sorry I can't understand you at all when you're yelling. I asked are you here yet? And he said yes so I came downstairs. I get down there and he's nowhere in sight. I call him and wait a while and he appears, very angry and aggressive screaming in my face how busy he is and how I made him wait 20 mins. I have never been treated this way before and couldn't believe how aggressive he was. I understand language can be a barrier, and I will never judge someone for that but that's absolutely no excuse to treat someone that way. The portion was very small - only three small pieces of protein. Very expensive for what you get and mediocre. First off I want to say that Sawasde has some of the best Thai food I’ve ever eaten, it has been a godsend during quarantine. That being said, today, after ordering from them multiple times I received a phone call from someone at the restaurant telling me that if I tried to order from them again, they would cancel my order, because I “live too far” and the delivery person “doesn’t like coming to my apartment.” I, according to seamless, live within their delivery radius, it’s only a mile away! It’s absolutely asinine, especially in a time like this, that they would refuse someone who is actively giving them money. When the delivery man arrived he was angry and said “Never again! This is the last time! I will not deliver here again!” He was extremely rude and practically threw my food at me.

Fair is fair. Editing this review because I realize businesses live or die by these . At first my original review was 3 stars but after trying them a few more times they earn an extra star. This place has a lot going for it. They do a good job of cranking out orders in about 10 min, the staff is chill and polite, hrs are great and the prices are definitely fair for the portions. Still agree with some of the reviews here. Definitely an element missing when it comes to spices but I think that can be remedied by asking for more of what you want. Still sticking with questioning the quality of some of the ingredients but when considered to the price and portions it makes sense and does not completely ruin the overall taste.
