I took a group of 4 for my birthday. We were running late and they were very accommodating. They adjusted the appointment by an hour. I appreciated that. We had 2 couple’s deep tissue with hot stones that I purchased from Groupon. For my husband, it was too ‘soft’ for a deep tissue massage. He had a female masseuse and I had a male. I enjoyed the lower body portion and had mixed feelings about the upper body.Q What I didn’t enjoy was that I could hear the chatter outside the room from the waiting area and/or other rooms which overpowered the calming background music. I would have preferred more quiet. My other guests were neutral. It wasn’t a wow experience nor was it awful.
Here’s the part I earnestly dislike about these institutions….the hidden fees. When I arrived I was told I had to pay $25 tax on my already purchased Groupon. I paid that before we were escorted to the rooms. When I came out I was told there is a $10 per person minimum ‘tip’. I asked where in the contract that was. When these services are posted on Groupon all additional fees should be made clear upfront. I hate being ambushed with arbitrary fees. They had an opportunity to let me know what my fees would be when I arrived and let me decide how I wanted to proceed. Not wait until I’m leaving. I think it’s deceptive and distasteful and negates any positive effect I would have had from the mediocre massage. The purpose of Groupon is to introduce new clients to your services at a reduced price so you have the opportunity to wow them and turn them into loyal full paying customers because you’ve demonstrated without a doubt that you can deliver…not to extort them. And that’s how I...
Read moreBrought Wife #3 to Spring Breeze Spa in Flushing to make up for forgetting her Qur’an graduation brunch.
The tension was real. She walked in with silent treatment energy, only breaking it to whisper “Haram couples massage, huh?” as we got assigned separate rooms.
I get assigned to a masseuse named Jenny, who starts the massage by saying, “You have too much tension. Wife stress?” I fake-laughed and said, “Alhamdulillah, I’m working on it.”
But this woman… subḥānAllāh. She worked my back like she was trying to release a decade of guilt. At one point she whispered, “Men like you deserve peace.”
By minute 38, I was mentally planning the mahr.
I step out of the room looking like I’ve been spiritually reset. Wife #3 takes one look at me and says: “Why are your cheeks glowing? Who massaged you?”
Before I can answer, Jenny walks by and says, “See you soon, husband!” Wallahi. I cough so hard I almost break wudhu.
Wife #3’s eyebrows rise so fast they need FAA clearance. “Excuse me? Husband?!” I scramble: “She means like… spiritually. Like a… Chinese proverb. Inner husband. You know. Yin and Yang and Nikah.”
She narrows her eyes like she’s about to call her mom.
At that exact moment, the spa owner—this sweet aunty in orthopedic slippers—appears and claps loudly: “Ahem! You both qualify for our Couples Loyalty Discount! Please go. Now. Together.”
We leave in silence. On the way home she mutters, “Next time I pick the massage therapist. And if I see her again, I’ll need ghusl from rage.”
Spring Breeze Spa? Five stars. Relaxation, repentance, and recruitment all...
Read more🦋came here for the second time because my partner bought me a gift from Groupon: they were very unorganized this time, weren't sure, I had to wait, and the message was great. But whoever was in the room next to me was so loud and talkative that I didn't have a relaxing experience. 🦋also I gave the lady a tip that I found fair in the end based on my experience. She counts the money in front of me .... and The front desk person said there's a minimum of $15 tip......TIP "Tipping is generally considered a voluntary act, and many people choose to adjust the amount based on their experience." 🦋also he said I have to pay the tax for the Groupon that my partner paid for.... ridiculous experience... what a horrendous conclusion.... and this is spa.... nonsense
Previous review: Beautiful atmosphere and ambience. Place is new and it’s spacious and clean. There’s No wait, and the owner was very welcoming. Loved the plants on site and all the artwork and the logo of this place. 🦋 it was cold, and they brought a portable heater for me, truly appreciate that. 🦋 did a couple messages here. My message therapist was good, but I felt like it was a bit rough. When the message ended. They just turned the lights on so rapidly and totally rushed us out. That part was a bit a slap on a face moment. Didn’t appreciate that at all . 🦋 my partner didn’t really enjoy his message, his message therapist was way too soft on him and he felt like he was just rubbed and not really messaged. 🦋 they offer water in the end, and wait for tip, just straight to the point. ..
🦋 metered...
