I ordered from this place today and went to pick up the food at their restaurant. When I got there I saw add ons that I did not add and I told them very politely of the situation. It was something very simple about an add on I did not add and they wouldn’t try to work with me about it and tried to bring hell to the customer. They kept on arguing with me and took it to the next level. They took my food to the back in the kitchen and opened it up and looked like they did something to the food and took a lot of stuff out. It looked like they tampered with the food heavy and I even asked them you didn’t spit in my food did you because that’s what it looked like they were doing in the back. Why did they have to take my food to the back and open it up?? When I got home and opened it up there was barely any meat in the meat dishes I ordered. I ordered a soup and it did not taste right at all. Minutes after eating the food I had a very bad stomache ache got diarrhea and vomit. I couldn’t believe any restaurant would do something like this. This was my worst restaurant...
Read moreUpdate: Though they have consistent flavor and I haven't found a mala place I love more than here, they jacked up the price and I leave this place feeling like I paid way more than the food's worth. I now goto other places at the expense of slightly less flavorful malas, because I can get at least 3x more food than I get here.
Previous review:
Mala here has become my addictive weekly ritual. Not cheap though, spending $20-30 per bowl, possibly even more after a recent price hike. Their soup and dry mala are both delicious, the peanut blend in soup makes mala newbies become addicts. Seasonal ingredients would keep things interesting for regular customers like me. Their skewers (especially lamb) I don't care for - meat that was small, dry, and too gamy. A money-saving tip: Go with friends, order one big mala bowl instead of multiple small ones. Tasty teamwork for the...
Read moreFood is good but its so expensive. Ive been here multiple times to get takeout. I always get the malasangguo (dry hotpot). They have a fridge where you use tongs to choose all your veggies/meats. I fill up at least half of the large bowl they provide but when all the ingredients are cooked, it seems so little? I love tripe and so everytime i come here, i make sure to load up on that but when i get home, it seems like theres only 5 pieces in the container. Not sure where they all disappeared to or if theyre charging people and then taking majority of the ingredients out in the kitchen to scam people. They charge your ingredients based on weight and tell me how this tiny little container (see attached picture) costs $30?! Its the size of those regular size takeout...
