HelloFresh — Local services in Newark

HelloFresh is a program that my roommates and I started using to get back into the habit of meal planning and explore new foods. I tried three other delivery services before discovering HelloFresh, and HelloFresh was by far the best. The recipes let me discover fresh approaches to food preparation and cooking. They had excellent menu options and always brought meals on time with clear instructions. Some businesses don't offer that. Each dish was separately packaged, and they were always delicious. Not a terrible cost either. These dishes would be exceedingly expensive to make if I had to buy every component separately.

Furthermore, I expected to be more overwhelmed cooking these restaurant-quality meals, but surprisingly I've been pulling it off very well! The recipe cards give step-by-step directions that are easy to follow. Granted there have been times I misread them and messed up, but thankfully it had little effect on the outcome of the meal. Also, it's been a great tool to help us cook dinner at home together rather than getting takeout!

We have the vegetarian plan because our one roommate is a lifelong vegetarian, and all the meals have been wonderful. Oftentimes we see other companies doing vegetarian meals that don't have much substance or are not very filling, but I can say that has never been an issue with HelloFresh. The only complaint my roommates and I have is that there are only four vegetarian options per week. If you don't like all four options, depending on what plan you have, you don't get a replacement meal. In addition, of the dozen meals we've tried so far, there have been a couple of times I had to toss a produce item because it was no good, but on the bright side, the meals turned out wonderfully anyway and their produce overall is exceptional.

My only recommendation for those who are interested in using HelloFresh is to have things commonly used on hand such as salt, pepper, butter, garlic, and more. HelloFresh provides everything you need in order to have the meal completed, but if you want to add a little more such as the ingredients I listed above, it can’t hurt! Overall, my roommates and I are super happy to be a part of HelloFresh because we’ve learned a tremendous amount of kitchen skills, and most importantly the meals taste great. This is the absolute worst company I've ever come across. I signed up for a promotion that lasts 6 weeks. I received my first box on time with no issues. Unfortunately, I was charged for my second box but it never arrived. I reached out to this company via chat and was offered a credit at the END of my promotional (6 week) period. I respectfully declined. I had my third box paused as I was struggling financially and could no longer afford the service so I planned on cancelling. After explaining this to the rep, he stated my options were to get the credit at the end of the six weeks or he can refund me now but it would cancel out my promotion. I told him to refund me now and cancel my entire subscription. He agreed, sent me the refund and assured me my account was cancelled. A week later, I get a new Hello Fresh charge to my account. I contacted customer service by chat three times. All three times they gave me unprofessional attitude, refused to help me and then disconnected the chat on me. I then called in, and the exact same thing happened. I did not even get to choose my food items for the week because I was not expecting a box and now all the items selected for me were things my family and I wont eat. After many many times of expressing how devastated I was and informing them of my financial emergency right now, they still will not refund me the money to pay bills for myself and my three toddlers. Place was huge new and a gift to the local and state economy of New Jersey and its citizens. Just spending half the day here I have noticed on one single day hello fresh maybe employs 1500 and that's me seeing not seeing the behind the scenes employs or administrators that are locked up in their offices or thr many who ate working from home now. Which is also remarkable in the sense that with all these employees they were stikk abke tomoractice social distancing. They even had tents and special built break areas and outdoor sitins or lounges fornthr employes during their brecla ensuring them space and safety. Another thing I've noticed that surely stands out are the guards. This place isn't packed with security with minimum ig four to each door and metal detectors coming in and and coming out as well ad portable detectors with guards to do anwell detailed search. AND THE N THRER ARE THR IN HOUSE SECURITY THAT WALK AROUND THR JOB AREA AT A PACE OF 1 AT EVERY 30 SECONDS. AND THE RRASON IS SIMPLE FORNFOOD SAFETY AS IT IS A COMMON THREAT FOR PEOLKE TO INTENTIALY SOBOTAGE OUR GOOD SUPPLIES FROM TERRORIST TO DISGRUNTLED EMPLOYEES ACTIVISTS OR SIMPLY AN ENEMY IFBTHR STATE.
