Grecian Kitchen — Restaurant in Niles Township

This past mid September was the very first time trying this place and I'm glad I did. I'm a bit of a Gyros junkie so stumbling onto the name on Google maps caught my attention.

My family & I were wandering around Old Orchard before coming here but I'm not familiar with any restaurants within the mall that serve up Gyros or at least I haven't heard of any popular name that's known for their Gyros there.

Told my wife I've got that craving and wanna go exploring. Grecian Kitchen sounded just dandy and also in town not all that far from the mall and I always try my best to support local.

I know besides actual Greek restaurants that there are hundreds of Chicago/Greek grills that many people would claim "MEH, they're all the same!". Not always the case for me and GK boasts a great menu with really good food and especially the Gyros.

I've had my fair share of places that have served up some bland & boring Gyros before and never to return. Gyros here are excellent; meat is soft & moist, well seasoned and not too salty.

Prices are still reasonable amidst the pandemic, nationwide inflation and the minimum wage hike. Clean dining room with outdoor seating as well with friendly customer service.

We live up in Beach Park in between Wadsworth and Waukegan so not sure when I'll get back down here but if my wife ever wants to browse Nordstrom which Old Orchard is the closest to our house then I'll have to make room for some savory Gyros.

The first time I went here, I really liked their chicken, and I really told myself that I would definitely return, which I just recently did. I went for dinner, and the place was really busy, but it still managed to be clean. What I had for the first time was their chicken, and it was really good, full of flavor, so I decided to have it again. The employees are very nice and friendly. Since the whole place is busy and it really takes a long time before anything is served, I expected that my order would take a while. Then my food came and I started to eat, and that is the moment I got disappointed. I do not know the reason why, but the chicken was not what I expected. The taste and the whole flavor are not the same as what I had the first time. It is not that bad, and I still consider it good, but it really tastes different and it is not cooked well. I seriously did not finish it and she had me order something different, which is the gyro sandwich, just so I wouldn't be left starving. The gyro sandwich was actually delicious and definitely better than the chicken I had...

The quality of food is good. Unfortunately i cannot give 5 stars due to the service I received. I ordered delivery which has a delivery charge and I also tipped the driver. My food came in a timely manner. The driver was polite. I ordered 4 meals; 2 of the four were incorrect. I asked for 2 Italian beef meals (comes w/ fries and drink) with mozzerella cheese and lightly dipped... one with hot pepper on the side, the other with sweet pepper on the side. When I opened the food both beefs had the cheese, but were very dry (not lightly dipped). Again, I asked for lightly dipped. I called immediately and spoke with management who sent out 2 new beef sandwiches (not 2 new meals); so at this point my fries are cold, of course. I placed my drinks in the refrigerator to stay cool. Once again the supposedly corrected order was wrong again. I'm definitely upset. I wish those preparing the meals would pay more attention to the details of the order. It would avoid a lot...
