I am so very pleased to have found Nicol and her father, and their "mom and pop" worm farm. Since retiring, I have taken up gardening. I have 13 raised beds in which I grow cut flowers and vegetables. I also have a small rose garden of 15 roses, and an extensive area of landscaping. I have learned taking the time to build and nuture the soil makes for healthy, disease resistant plants which produce abundantly. I have been using worm castings from the big box stores, which is beneficial, but lacks the vitality of a fresh product. Now with Scarlet Worm Farm I will be able to actually use fresh viable worm castings, with all their live microbes, it is so rich; actual living soil! This year I want to try vermicomposting, so I also bought worms from them. They are large, plump and very active, all signs of having been well taken care of. Nicole was very kind and generous with her knowledge and time. With all that she taught me, I really think I'm going to be successful. Her father, at 89, is an inspiration! These worms are fed incredibly well. In a blender he combines egg shells and coffee grounds which he uses to make a 'tea' which he feeds the worms. He also feeds them a mash made of a high quality equine senior horse food, which is fortified with molasses and beneficial supplements. And of course the regular vegetables and fruit. You might think a worm is a worm, but just as we are only as healthy as what we put into our body, so it is true for worms, and this man goes above and beyond to raise robust worms which produce the best castings. In a world where so many are reluctant to share their secret of success, these two are warm and open, sharing all they know. It was wonderful. I'm looking forward to using all they shared and having a rewarding season...
Read moreNicole is very knowledgeable and generous with her time. She's passionate about her worm farm and castings, and about gardening in general. The product is top notch and higher quality and better priced than most vendors (I've purchased worm castings before).
Nicole paid us a visit at our house and took a lot of time to answer all our questions about the garden (and not just worn related issues), make suggestions, and even get dirty and hands-on demonstrating things such as pruning, how to grow certain plants from the stem or leaves, things we were doing wrong, etc.
In short, she went well above and beyond what we would have expected and came alongside is like a partner in our garden, an expert consultant, and walked is through everything we needed to do to take out garden to the next level, including how to use the screened and unscreened worm castings and grow and maintain the worms we got. I don't usually take the time to write detailed reviews but she really deserves it, and I think others need to know about her. I highly recommend her services...
Read moreAwesome experience this morning, needed to purchase some "Red Wigglers" this morning for my grandson's science project. I had seen "The Scarlet Worm" website on Facebook and liked the positive reviews I had seen and decided that this was exactly the type of place we should buy from. They are knowledgeable, friendly, and you can not beat the price. We were given many tips and techniques on the process. The experience reminded me of a small town experience you would have received back in the 60's or even before that. They have various types of worms depending on your needs. I wholeheartedly recommend you give them a call on any worm related experience you have from...
