One of the newest additions to Norfolk's Chelsea district, Reverend Spirits R.D. Wilhelm distillery is nestled by a section of the Elizabeth River Trail on West Olney Rd. They are presently a production only facility (read: no tasting area yet) and are sorting out their ABC code approvals for opening for public tours of their facility by the end of the month of January. Their products will be available via special order and also via a distillery tour on premises, but they have not presently planned to launch products in the VA ABC stores. Read moreWe stopped by while walking our dog, and decided to stop in for a tasting. I'll preface this by saying I can be hesitant of craft bourbon, but was very pleasantly suprised! Subtle fruit on the nose with apple, oak and cherry taste with very little heat, and a medium finish with suprising complexity. Priced at $35 but much better than a few $50+ bottles in stores.
