Met some friends at Orapax last night and after many visits before, I doubt I will return. To start, our waitress was so inattentive, she seemed to much prefer hanging out at the bar socializing with the bartender. I had to flag her down twice once just to get our meal ordered and again to get drink refills. I ordered a small Greek salad and the Greek Grilled Chicken with Greek potatoes, my favorite meal. When the salad finally came, it was delicious as expected, however our dinner was delivered shortly after that, interrupting the enjoyment of the salad. She turned and walked away, back to the bar again. She came back and visited the table next to us and never looked our way or asked how our meals were. I had to call to her to ask her where the Au jus was that normally comes with the Greek Chicken. She said it doesn't come with the meal, but she would be happy to get some. I'm not sure what she brought but it was not the normal Au jus that comes with the Greek Chicken. After all that, I think two things really disappointed me the most and made it abundantly clear that either the manager/owner was not there or just didn't care about the customer's experience at one of what I thought was the best high-end Greek restaurant in Hampton Roads (We drove from the Hickory section of Chesapeake). We were seated in the bar with about 9 high-top tables and there were 7 of them that needed to be cleared and cleaned. With so many employees just standing around, why couldn't someone buss the tables and grab a broom? Or at least pick up the dirty napkins on the floor? It was disgusting. Next to our table was a big tangle of dirty charging cables (used to charge the cute little table lamps). These should have been put away and not out on the bar. I have always loved Oprapax and recommended it to many friends for good Greek food, but I think I need to find another place to patronize.

This is very unfortunate and I am not sure where to begin. I will keep it short because I am truly fed up. This year I’ve been doing my best to go back to embrace a healthier lifestyle (I think we all are after last year). I am not a complete vegan but I love the concept and food. I’ve been to this establishment 3 times. Twice during the day and once during the evening. I’m learning about photography and have only had my mobile phone on me to capture pictures if I went there. When I went in on the evening of 9 September 2021, after what had been a truly challenging week for me, I was seated and the only person in that entire section that looked a bit similar to myself was the staff. Besides the initial water, I was never asked if I wanted an additional beverage or waited on at all. I waited the longest I ever had and people who had arrived after me (and didn’t look like me) began to get their orders in. I have completed 16 years of service to the DOD and had already begun mentioning this establishment to friends, family, coworkers & other DOD personnel. I can’t in good conscience do that anymore, but I enjoyed the time for what it was and was able to get great culinary, business & marketing ideas. Someone who might not look like the staff may have an experience that would acquire the remaining 3 stars left for my review. Take Care Orapax. edit: Nicole, it clearly states below my post that you are the owner and I’m very sorry that I’m not able to make a positive edit to this review. I feel that I was very clear in what I wrote so I am not sure what the confusion could be about. I called that number like you said below & it sounds like it is your voice on the recording stating that you can “eat like a Greek once a week”… and your voice mailbox is full.

Discovering a bustling restaurant on a Monday night is always a promising sign, and Orapax Greek restaurant in Norfolk's Chelsea neighborhood certainly delivered on that promise. Despite arriving without a reservation, the short wait for a table was well worth it, as we were about to experience a memorable Mediterranean feast. The innovative chai tea cocktail emerged as an unexpected highlight, prompting multiple orders at our table - a creative twist that perfectly complemented the traditional Greek menu. Our appetizers set a high standard: the calamari was expertly fried to achieve that perfect crisp-tender balance, while the wings demonstrated the kitchen's skill with both Greek and American favorites. The shawarma bowls, which three of us ordered with different meat selections, impressed with their generous portions and quality ingredients. Each protein was cooked to perfection and served atop a abundant spread of accompaniments. While the pickled onions and cabbage added a zesty kick, I found myself craving a bit more tzatziki sauce to balance the bold flavors - a minor detail that could have been easily resolved by requesting an extra serving. The service was notably efficient and friendly, with our orders arriving surprisingly quickly despite the full house. The restaurant's warm ambiance and contemporary take on Greek cuisine makes it a standout addition to Norfolk's dining scene. Whether you're a local or just passing through the Chelsea neighborhood, Orapax offers a delightful fusion of traditional Greek flavors with modern flair, served in a welcoming atmosphere that keeps patrons coming back - even on Monday nights.

Went to Orapax last night. We are frequent diners. It's Friday night around 8pm. We had seats immediately which was great. I waitress seemed out of sorts. She had taken all of the glasses of the table and came back with the same plastic glasses and warm bottled water. I had already ordered our appetizers and contemplating on what to order for dinner. My fiance asked for cold water and lemons and limes for our water. Waitress came back with 2 tall glasses of ice and didn't even pour our water and yet want to be tipped accordingly. Then later returned to inform us that our apps. were coming. Finally, our appetizers came. Waitress never offered bread with our meal and we could have had the bread while waiting for our apps. While I was continuing eating my app. I asked our server if I could have another taziki since it went well with my app. Mind you, we are eating our meal and not take out. Our server stated that the taziki sauce would be extra, as in cost wise. I was in disbelief. As much as we frequent ORAPAX, we have never been charged extra for sauces, especially while we are sitting down eating a full fledged meal with apps. Not one of the other servers in the past have ever expressed this to us. We of course felt as if our server was just tired and just was confused. When we saw a young lady walking by asking how everything was during the course of the evening, I stopped her and asked about the bread and how we were not offered any and was told it was extra for taziki in a little plastic condiment container. Her response was, oh well let me check on the bread. When the young lady returned, she stated that they were out of bread and stated that they had day old bread and would I want that. I don't know about other paying customers, but if someone offered you day old from a restaurant that is supposed to serve fresh food, what kind of message are you sending? I just looked at her and stated "NO THANK YOU ". We were just on disbelief that she even offered something so ludacris. Then had the nerve to say, oh and the sauce is an extra cost but she would take it off our bill. WOW how gracious of her to do so with the subpar service we were already receiving. Of you are a server, you have to at least pretend you like what you're doing. Our server's actions and facial expressions said it all last night. What's so sad is that she was our server last time and she was the same. She does not need to be a server. She is just not great at what she's doing at ORAPAX and her attitude is HORRIBLE. We had a feeling that the young lady coming by tables asking about how things are must have told our server about our concerns because when we asked for boxes and a bag for our leftovers, the server threw down the bag instead of bagging up our boxes. Her tip reflected last night's service. She's fortunate she received that from our $90.00 bill. Also, that young lady going around asking how everything is from each table needs training in etiquette. You do not ask a patron if they want DAY OLD BREAD. This was our first bad experience at ORAPAX and hope it will be our last. We like supporting local businesses but we also expect a certain type of treatment and courtesy from staff. If they aren't good at their job them training and coaching needs to be in place. Being part if management also means that patrons aren't to be ridiculed because we are why you all have positions. We are paying customers and servers need to remember this, especially if customers are being very gracious...

Hands-down my favorite restaurant of all time. There is absolutely no situation where "Do you want to go to Orapax?" will not cheer me up. Where to start? Atmosphere: 9.5/10. It's clean, classy vibe feels like you've stepped into someone's lakeside home. Outdoor dining is shielded from the elements and makes a lovely space for a party. Indoors is ideal for a date night or family dinner. The place can get a little loud and echo-y for a quiet conversation, but only on the busiest nights. Service: 10/10. Never had anything but stellar service here, even when the house is packed. Always prompt, friendly, kind, and never rushed. Even better, I've never seen a single person in a bad mood at work. They must be doing something right here. Bar: 10/10. Great house drinks for every palate. The Santorini Sunrise is a crowd pleaser that packs a punch, and the seasonal drinks are always off the charts. House-infused liquors really make the difference in these seasonal delights, and the creativity is impressive with things like chai-infused bourbon for an unbeatable autumn old-fashioned. The bartenders are extremely creative and have crafted many drinks (both alcoholic and nonalcoholic) for every flavor profile I've ever asked for. Location: 9/10. Right off main roads and easy to get to. Loses a point for parking, but there is street parking and also a lot just a block or two away. Food: 10/10. I would go higher, but no one would believe me. The freshly-baked bread is worth a trip by itself. Moussaka and Pastitsio are my standard dishes here, and they are amazing. I now live many states away and have quite seriously considered asking them to freeze me a couple of catering pans of Moussaka and Pastitsio for pickup. It might be worth the 10-hour drive. The appetizer sampler plate makes a great entree with a variety of options to try, including a delicious spanakopita. The salmon (no matter which way you order it) is absolutely phenomenal and never overcooked, yet has a lovely crisp to the edges. Their dolmades were the first I've ever tried, and I've been disappointed with every one I've tried since then. Specialty lamb dishes are so rich and flavorful! Their pizza was a household staple for the perfect crust-to-topping ratio. Price: much more affordable than the quality and flavor...
