DO NOT EVEN TRY TO BE SEEN HERE! I have been actively trying to be seen here since the 17th. Debbie kept telling me that they could not see me without a referral from my doctor because of my insurance. My doctor's office said they sent in referrals several times and they also had a referral from Norman regional er. I even called my insurance, who said they DID NOT require a referral, and Debbie argued with me that they do. Stephanie, the office manager, also argued with me about needing a referral. Meanwhile, my infection is getting worse. If I end up losing this toe, I will be suing the pants off of them! I ended up calling Midwest City wound care and got an appointment. Unfortunately, they can't get me in until the 7th. It's terrifying thinking that I may lose a toe or even more just because of Debbie delaying the care that I desperately need. Please reconsider before using Norman wound care. I now refuse to go to any of Norman regional offices or hospital. They will NOT get 1 more penny from me or my insurance.
ETA: I've already talked to the patient liason and she did NOTHING for me! FYI, I was seen in Midwest city on the 7th and the infection is in the bone!! I had part of my toe, including bone, cut off that day! When I was in the er, the xray showed no infection, so Debbie delaying my care caused the infection to get in the bone. ETA: UPDATE: 10/11/21 Today my toe was amputated. Thank you Norman wound care and Debbie for delaying my care. Without you, I wouldn't know what it's like to have joined the amputee club. Now that things will have slowed down and I won't have multiple doctor appointments every day trying to save the toe and trying to fight the MRSA infection, I will be actively calling lawyers until I find one that is willing to take my case.
For those needing wound care, Dr. Gilmore at Midwest City wound care was amazing. She fought so hard for me with doctors trying to save the toe. From getting a cardiologist at ou to see me within 2 days to fighting with infectious disease to give me the treatment to try to kill the mrsa infection, to trying weekly to save my toe. She's one hell of a doctor and if you can make the trip there to see her, I can promise she'll do you right. Avoid Norman, unless you want to experience...
Read moreI was referred to the clinic by my primary care physician to treat a cut I received on my shin from a fall. I have United Healthcare AARP Advantage PPO insurance which requires a $245 copay for an Outpatient facility. While I can’t complain about the care received on the first visit, I was sent for additional tests with another $155 copay, loaded up with bandage supplies sent via UPS(not sure yet what that’s going to cost yet), and when I inquired about what my insurance was paying after my 3rd visit (with another visit scheduled) I was told that the follow up visits are coded and also charged as Outpatient surgery to the tune of $245 per visit, out of pocket, the same as the initial visit. The follow-ups consisted of less than 5 minutes with the Doctor to clean the cut, and a fresh bandage from a nurse. After speaking with my insurance carrier, they are at a loss as to why the follow-up is coded as outpatient surgery, but can only process as the hospital submits the claim. The clinic has a sign posted regarding copays are you be paid at time of service, but none were collected, and I was not made aware of the ongoing cost. After the initial visit, had I known that each follow-up required the same copay, I certainly would have rethought continuing their care, which is questionable whether ongoing care was/is needed. I don’t consider this an insurance issue, as much as a money grab by the...
Read moreHave been to this facility off and on for 2 years with my brother. Yesterday, 1 nurse visited the room 1st removing the bandages from my brother. She was very professional. Next, Dr. Delcambre came in with a different nurse. He was quite professional as well. He told us that he wanted to perscribe 2 different medications. I asked what pharmacy. He said the nurse would handle it. The last nurse to come in dressed my brothers wound then left the room saying we were done. Upon check out, I inquired with Heather what pharmacy was called as there was no information on the post appointment papers we were given. She said she didn't know because it wasn't her department. I then saw the nurses gathered behind me in the office of the head nurse. I asked them what pharmacy and when it would be sent. I was RUDELY told that they would be called in later in the day to the pharmacy on file. I asked what pharmacy they had on file. Then the nurse rustled through my brothers chart like I had asked for the moon and told me. I said it would have been nice if you had verified this with us in the room. It is my opinion that there are 3 different groups of people at this facility that only know/care about their department and DON'T communicate with any other department..hope to see this change during future...
