North Beach Welcome Center — Local services in North Beach

We had a rare event free day on the calendar and wanted to take a day trip. We decided to head to Chesapeake Beach and North Beach Maryland. My take on the North Beach area: -The area has tremendous potential as a destination -It is not right now and disappointingly it is due to the town and visitors -The area is filthy and littered with butts and other trash from the visitors -The town is a tourist area by design but doesn't like tourists as seen in countless signs everywhere and the pricing. They have a tiny beach and swimming area. It has the potential to be a great spot for families with small children and others looking to sun. The prices are set up, free for town residents, $7 for county residents and $17 for everyone else. That would have been $102 for my entire family to sit on a fake beach and swim in the bay. At first, my wife was furious at the pricing but I grew up in a tourist area, it took me an hour but I realized what this is about. They are overrun by people outside of the area and residents couldn't use the facilities on the nicer days so they priced it to keep...

This place is okay, as long as your are not expecting to sit on the beach and enjoy the water. This beach requires a $16 admission per adult. Chesapeake has two more beaches further south with fees of $17 and $10 per adult. The $10 beach will stop letting people in pretty early in the day due to capacity and they will NOT refund your money.

The boardwalk on North Beach is nice and the pier is also nice. A lot of people walking on the boardwalk so it feels somewhat lively. We visited on memorial day so we were expecting heavy traffic but surprised to...

Very high organic content in the water, high bacterial level warning right at the entrance. I would appreciate if they charge for what they have; a tiny stretch of muddy beach. But then $10 per person, way too high compared to nice beaches. You don't want to go back having come all the way for a beach. Better plan to somewhere else like assateague or chincoteague. Reasonably clean bathroom and shower are big pluses. Pleasant staff. In spite of negatives, the attitude of staff makes you feel good. Look for fossils on the beach....
