The Bakist was a pleasant brunch surprise while my fiancé and I enjoyed a scenic by way trip this morning. We'd never been in the area and stopped by on a whim, and I'm so glad we did!
The sweet gentleman who took our order was wonderful - willing to answer questions and assisted us at the end as we decided to purchase four homemade foccacia rolls and additional goodies. I didn't get his name but we sincerely enjoyed interacting with him (blue/light eyes, tattoo on the back of his neck, slim build).
For brunch, we ordered the egg and cheese croissant, ham and cheese with tomato and spinach on foccacia, iced cafe au lait and hot chocolate for $28 (tip included), and four foccacia rolls, blueberry muffin, gooey butter cookie, snickerdoodle cookie and s'mores cookie were all for $25. The foccacia roll alone is UNBELIEVABLE. Seriously, one of the best I've ever had and would be a killer grilled cheese served with tomato soup. High five to whomever makes the breads at The Bakist! The egg and cheese croissant sandwich was larger than I expected and hot, absolutely delicious.
Parking was easy to find, although I'm sure it's more difficult on warmer days. The coffee/art shop was very nice and relaxing. Restrooms were clean and although the space felt very low key, the decor was inviting and comfortable.
I sincerely look forward to returning to The Bakist again. Thank you to the kind team for a fun, delicious experience on our...
Read moreBeen here 4 times tried 3 different items, each one mediocre or awful. They are either undertrained ,understaffed, for the crowds or they need to reduce the amount of menu items to make orders correctly and with quality. I got a london fog or (lavender fog) on their menu which should be the same thing london fog typically has a dash of lavender flavor. This was more like london water. No vanilla, no steamed milk,no sugar, not even sure they used enough tea for my size of cup, came again thinking it was a fluke, but got the same quality. On another visit I got one of their smoothies, again it tasted like I was just slurping on slush water. On another visit I tried one of their breakfast sandwiches. They use liquid (precracked) milk carton eggs and/or those quick egg cookers that overcook the eggs, which I'm not totally opposed to. But when you think you are paying for a fresh made breakfast sandwich you kind of expect a bit more quality. Overall the sandwich was bland just like everything else I tried before. I think most satisfied reviews on here are people who just order coffee based items or locals just try to pump their only small town coffee joint. So if you don't like coffee...
Read morePro: Nice Atmosphere. Friendly staff. Timely service. Interesting food. The store has a sense of community. -3 stars for Pros- Cons: Prices. I did not see the cost of the merch posted, listed, or attached to items, on the menu bboard, or detailed on our emailed receipt. How much were the T-shirt and wooden postcards? I still don't know but I am certain they were very-very expensive. Cool wooden postcards! Receipts. I asked for, but was unable to get a paper receipt from the clerk at the counter. She was, however, able to pull one for the storefront and keep it. The clerk informed me the store was saving paper. Tips. Red Flag - I am old school. Requesting gratuity b4 delivering service is backward - even covertly by blaming the technology, and then, asking me to finish the checkout order on the screen and the tip amount pops up - convenient, but tacky. The process embarrasses customers and staff. BTW, is the staff being compensated adequately; and, what is the storefront's policy for distributing...
