I went to the North Brunswick store today to pick something up. They didn't have it so decided to look around. Picked up a few items including a pet feeding stand with bowls. Proceeded to get on line to pay. Quickly the line grew long and started to wrap around. You could hear various workers but we were barely moving. Finally made it towards the front and looked to see what was slowing things down. There were about five women behind the registers chatting and laughing. The line monitor kept saying register 8 available. No other number. This woman comes from another area of the store and opens up a register. She comments to the joyful workers that the line is very long and others should open. They reluctantly open maybe another two registers but continue laughing and are not taking anyone. The lady who ran over to help says again the line is very long. This lady tries to quickly bring people up to pay. I finally was called to line 8. Pleasant woman asks how I'm doing and starts ringing things up. There was a woman next to her watching so assumed she was training. This other woman grabs the dog feeding stand and says to the cashier that's too nice to be 19.99. I told her it's clearly labeled with the price and label matches the item. She says, no, no that has to be more and grabs it and runs off. She tells another woman look at this too nice for this price has to be higher have to look it up and they both laugh. She's seen checking something and not satisfied checks something else. I told the cashier there's nothing wrong with the label. I don't know why she grabbed it to run around complaining that it must be more cause I have no intention of paying more than what's on the clearly marked label. It did not look like label had been tampered with in any way and others on shelf were marked the same. Plus she had no right to rudely grab it and run off complaining loudly that it must be more. That level of concern should have been directed at the ridiculously long line that they were ignoring. She finally came back, didn't speak to me ever, but told cashier nothing I can do they told me the price is marked right. Shoves item at cashier and says just let her have it. NEVER seen so much unprofessionalism in one spot. People waiting on line while they laughed and giggled. Never once did she address me in any way. While this store is closer to home I think I'll either never return or go to East Brunswick instead. I highly suggest that perhaps upper management send someone in to see what's going on. This isn't the first time I go in there and there are several women hanging out and laughing behind the registers and not taking customers until someone...

Read moreCame in to do a return on 9/26 around 2:30pm and Diego F. at the first checkout station was super friendly and approached each customer he took with professionalism and kindness. I’ve been to this location many times over the last few years and this was probably the best customer service experience I’ve ever encountered at not only a Marshall’s, but at any establishment. Diego F. is truly an asset to this location and most definitely deserves some sort of recognition in the form of a raise/promotion!
Selection at this store has seriously deteriorated over the years, though. There used to be a lot of Nike and bigger brand name items, but most of the men’s section consists of unheard brands and poor quality graphic tees. Definitely need to look hard for a good find! The line at checkout is often very long as well. There are always many employees behind the register itself, but only 2-4 employees actually ringing customers out/processing returns. Weird format that they have going on. If behind the cash registers is where the employees mingle and touch base with one another, it may be beneficial to move to a more private location in the store. From a customer’s point of view, it doesn’t look very great when lines are long and employees behind the register are talking with each other and...
