This was a great experience for my kid and I. I grew up in the drive-ins and I wanted him to experience it here in Vegas. The weather was nice which is very important if you're going. Don't go if it's too hot. There were no mosquitoes. The place doubles as a flea market during the week, so everything is paved which is odd. All the drive-ins I went to as a kid were mounds of gravel. It was very easy to get a good vantage here. The crowd was very respectful and nice. Some of the drive-ins I've been to in the past have been sketchy, scary, not a good family atmosphere. But here there was no riff Raff and it was safe and comfortable. They also offer you a free jumpstart if your battery dies which has happened to me before. The concession stand was fantastic and old school with tons of great workers and helpers that were friendly and did a very good and efficient job serving us our stuff. The prices were actually very reasonable at the concession stand, especially for a movie theater setup. The sound was perfect over our radio. The theater number 2 laser projection was a bit pixelated but it still looks just fine. about four times a helicopter flew behind our screen going to the local airport which could be distracting, but was actually pretty cool. This place has a good retro look which they could play up a little more. I would recommend getting the app which tells you shows screen times and allows you to buy tickets for a tiny surcharge. This got us through the gates very quickly when we arrived. My only other complaint was it was difficult to find out whether my movie was included in a double feature. I never went to a drive-in ever without having a double feature, a triple feature, some cartoons and other retro stuff in place. I'd recommend that to really jazz this joint up. In the old days, I'll drive ins had a really cool toy section 2, they have small toys here by the concession stand for kids to play on, with a big huge disclaimer on front. I'm sure the lawyers shut down most of these toys over the decades. That was always the coolest part as a kid, running around in my pajamas, playing on all the toys with the other kids until the movie popped on the screen! Next I will try to go to their...
Read moreLove this movie theatre, you are in the comfort of your own car and are able to relax how you please. Best thing is you can talk to anyone you are with in the privacy of your own vehicle without anyone having to shush you. Very easy, you pull up at the box, but a ticket for the movie of your chosing, they direct you to what screen number your feature is playing on and on the ticket they provide, it has the radio station you need to tune to. The station that you tune into will then transmit the audio from the movie directly through your car speakers! So you can play it as loud or as low as you please. And the parking there is awesome, it is very spaced out and it has a slight elevation to it, so your car can face the screen above directly. My favorite days to come are Tuesdays. Tickets are about 5.25 each, and you can pay for the double features, which is basically two movies that play back to back, for the same price of one ticket....isn't that awesome! The double features are always playing. You can also easily go onto their website to see which features are playing on the upcoming days or weeks, so you can plan your visit well ahead. Being here brings you back to the 50's-80's. It's like experiencing a time travel. Bring a date, bring friends, family or just yourself and enjoy the cinematic experience of the West Wind Drive-In, you...
Read moreGotta love the drive in!! ...Such a cool throw back experience. It was fun to take my son and brought back great memories of my younger years. We loved being able to take our own snacks and drinks and we turned the back of the car into a bed with the hatchback lifted - laying down for a movie was awesome!! I'd recommend arriving 30 minutes before your movie starts - it takes a long time to get through the 4 lanes of ticket takers. Go with right lane- it has the shortest curve and seems to go fastest. The snack bar area has had an overhaul since I was last there. It was much cleaner and had a game area in the front. They even had a slide and bouncy house for young kids. The only reason I gave this review 4 stars is because my son said the men's restroom was nasty. The ladies room was okay considering how many people were there watching the multiple screens. The way the screens are arranged you could easily watch a different movie without moving your car, should you choose to. Pricing was a good deal for admission too. And if you join their mailing list you'll get great ongoing offers via email. I highly recommend having this nostalgic experience - this is the only drive in left in our area. Let's patronize it and...
