I'm basing this off of two different interactions that happened within the past few months. The first was with my Pixel 8. It was having intermittent screen issues - green haze, pink line running vertically down the display. These issues are widespread and well documented. (Google even extended their warranty out to 3 years for screen issues in light of this.) I first reached out to Google. They directed me to uBreakiFix as they are a repair partner. I was told that all I needed to do was walk in to uBreakiFix, tell them what's going on, give them my IMEI number, and they'd complete the repair. So...I walked in, told them what was going on, and gave them my IMEI number. At this time, my screen appeared to be functional. They told me that since they could not replicate the issue that they couldn't not do the repair and added that whoever I spoke to at Google was "just reading from a script" and therefore, didn't know what they were talking about about. So I carry on with my life. Two days later I'm at work and my screen acts up. I use my coworkers phone to take a picture of my phone and send it to myself. I return to uBreakiFix with my evidence on Saturday. They say that a manager isn't there on Saturdays to examine it and his confirmation is needed to start the repair under warranty. My schedule doesn't work out with a time that the manager will be there. I call Google and explain my situation. They confirm once more that all I need to do is give them my IMEI. I tell this uBreakiFix again, and they give me the line about reading from a script again. I ended up sending it in to Google and get it back within a week.My second interaction was in regards to needing a spacebar repaired on my work laptop. This is covered under warranty but the turn around time would have been at least 2 weeks if I shipped it in; I need this every day for work, so I call in and ask for a quote. The guy can't quote me because he doesn't know the part number or if they have it in stock. I ask if I can give him the serial number or model number and he can look it up that way - like how you can look it up on Lenovo's website. He says no again. So I begrudgingly ship it and get it back good as new 2 weeks later.
I deal with insurance in my day job, so I understand the hesitance to do a repair that the manufacturer is supposed to cover via warranty. But if that's the case, don't be a "repair partner" with them. I'm also confused as to why they don't have someone able to authorize repairs on a weekend day. These two things, combined with the lack of ability to give what appears to be a simple quote to replace a spacebar, led to my giving 2...
Read moreWhere to start. Last year, I had a Galaxy Z Flip 4. The "Screen Protector" that came with the phone started bubbling up a few months after I bought it. So, I called Samsung and they said I have a free replacement and told me to go to this location. I show up and explain to them what the deal was and they said they can't work on it because the phone was damaged. Phone wasn't damaged. Guess what, I go to the uBreakiFix in Little Rock and THEY REPLACED MY SCREEN PROTECTOR! It's the same exact store, so why couldn't the one in North Little Rock do it? Sounds like some extremely lazy people. Not only that, but I had the exact same experience here today. Except, this time it's my Galaxy Z Flip 5. The screen protector started bubbling up and I called Samsung about it. They said I have a free replacement and noted it with my IMEI. They said to go to this location (North Little Rock) and they would replace it for free once they looked up my IMEI. Well they didn't ask about my IMEI and never looked it up. I told them I had a free replacement according to Samsung. This phone has been in a case with a screen protector on the outside and inside, and protective lens over the camera lens. This guy said my phone was damaged and the hinge was damaged. None of that was damaged. He pointed to a random spot on my phone and said it was damaged, but I saw nothing and immediately remembered how this place was last year. It's the absolute WORST uBreakiFix. Anyway, he said he couldn't do anything. I think it's because this place is lazy and don't really care about the customer. He never looked up my IMEI, he asked if it was under warranty or if I'm paying out of pocket, AFTER I told him Samsung said it was free. Tell me, WHY would I pay out of pocket if Samsung said it's free?! That's pure greed. I called Little Rock and they said they can do it. Lol this place in North Little Rock is a straight up joke. Never doing business here. Little Rock is a bit further, but they'll always have my business over this place. Very...
Read moreTook phone in because it was powering down. Because of their Samsung policy, I was told I would have to get the front and back glass fixed before it leaves the store if they could fix it and they would give me a call to let me know. I never received a call until time to for pickup when I was charged for front and back glass but still having problem I initially brought it in for. Took it back two days later. After back and forth for about two weeks and now the phone won’t power on at all. I am told it can’t be repaired. So now I’m questioning the “172 point test” that didn’t detect this in the beginning and the diagnostic before being charged for what I didn’t even bring it in for. The tech insinuated I dropped the phone or something. I was highly disappointed because I understand they may not have been able to fix it but they didn’t even try to make it right. The guy who checked me in didn’t check it in for what I brought it in for but what I would have to pay if they were able to fix it. I was charged 250 + taxes for a front and back glass of a phone I can’t even use. He refunded the front glass but not the back glass. Said if they can’t fix it, they would have to revert it back to it’s original state but that didn’t happen either. I don’t understand if the phone couldn’t be repaired and I was still having the same problem I originally took it in for, how did it pass the 172 point test the first time I picked it up and what does that test entail that doesn’t detect an irreparable issue and let’s not talk about how this snowballed into...
