Update: Great wall does not try hard or even try to do anything lol.
I highly recommend MR CHANGS ON MCCAIN. THEY ARE AMAZING!!
First: Addressing all the bad reviews over the last few months, were during NEW ownership. They act like it was during Tina's time. Its shady to try a peg it all on Tina. She is awesome.
Second: Here is a receipt for proof I was at the restaurant, which is a screen shot from my amex card. They informed me they were closed on the day of my complaint. I find it odd they say they were closed on a friday! Not believing that since my Amex statement shows different. (See receipt below) If they I say I was still not in the restaurant, I am more than happy to CALL AMEX AND HAVE THE CHARGE REVERSED. Amex would be more than happy to help me. You complain, they will just call you a liar as they did me below to avoid the issues. Bottom line, my family and I wont be eating here ever again. I will not be making phone calls to the restaurant to rectify any issues. Calling me a liar ended hope of that. On the night I came in, I spoke with a tall, older, grey haired gentleman who said he and his wife owned the place. Facing the counter he stood on the far right side. I had asked about all the new faces and he said Tina sold the restaurant to him and his wife. He mentioned Tina worked on helping them with her recipes. (Clearly that effort failed.) He even mentioned moving closer to the restaurant. He made it a point to tell me several times, Tina was her American name. (Not sure why he made that point. Sounds very odd, but to each his own I guess. Sounds racist to me but...) He mentioned she worked there for about a month to help transition. But according to you I wasn't in the restaurant. Wont have to worry about me or my friends and family being there any more. These regulars are out. That's for sure.
Third: Food review
The food is very bland and like chewing on card board. The portions are MUCH SMALLER. I do not like everything shoved into one box. Tina kept everything separate. The soup portion is now very tiny. Not even worth ordering. The fried rice had almost zero vegetables in it and was bland as well. I do not believe it was even fried to be honest. We paid for a complete meal yet we were charged AGAIN for the egg roll and did not get the ragoons that normally came with the meal. I guess they need the extra money by double charging. Definitely not the Great Wall restaurant I enjoyed. All good things come to an end as it did here. R.I.P. Great Wall, you will be dearly missed. The Egg Roll Express is now our new...
Read moreI just moved to the area and decided to try Great Wall Chinese Restaurant. I ordered a delivered order consisting of pupu platter, Shrinp with Lobster Sauce, Chicken with Almonds and Shrimp Lo mien. To be honest it was an utter disaster. To state with the pupu platter consisted of BBQ Pork Rib that was 100% fat. I am not joking, there was absolutely no actual pork meat. It was sprinkled with dry BBQ rub and fried. Next was the Fried shrimp with was so overcooked/dried out it resembled freeze dried shrimp with a massive breading. Next was the spring roll which was soggy and dripping in oil. Then there was the cheese wanton which was passable, but a little to sweet for my taste. Lastly the meat on a stick which was actually pretty good. For the entries, at first sight we thought they made a mistake and sent us soup, but it turned out to be the Shrimp in Lobster Sauce. What I really think they did was take the egg drop soup and add a few pieces of shrimp to it. I consisted of a thin broth, some chopped up carrots, peas, egg (like you find in egg drop soup) and some shrimp. To complement it, there was some rather poor fried rice included. The Chicken with Almonds was abysmal as well, although the Shrimp Lo mien was passable (2.5 out of 5). All in all I would warn anyone who wants good Chinese food to steer clear of the Great Wall Chinese Restaurant. You have...
Read moreI am not sure how so many reviews say this place has the best of anything or that it's their favorite place. I have had some bad take out in my life, but this is the worst Chinese food I've had to date. The food arrived about 2 hours after I ordered it, so everything was lukewarm and soft. My review is based on the taste of the food, and the long delivery time was irritating, but I was hoping the food would be worth it. (Nope) No crunch to the egg rolls from them sitting so long, which was a huge bummer. The shrimp toast was made with what I think is pork, and they were quite awful. I threw them away. Maybe this was an off day for this restaurant, but there is no way this can be the best Chinese food people have eaten. No way. I wouldn't order from here again. The delivery guy was nice, though. I paid $33 for my food, and I'm honestly considering throwing it all out and heating up a frozen dinner instead.
Update: in case anyone was wondering, I threw it all away and warmed up a frozen dinner. That's how...
