We had a great time with Captain Brad and First Mate Jess! Lifetime memories were made, and we plan for a repeat adventure with them. In brief, my family spent some time in North Myrtle this November. I’ve been intending to take my boys offshore with a charter for some time and thought this might be a good opportunity. So I started, I suppose as most ‘out of towners’ do, by reading reviews on various charters. I landed on Captain Brad with Flying Fish charters for several reasons, but I wanted to point out a few in particular. 1. Friendly, pleasant and welcoming personality. 2. Safety. 3. Knowledge to land the fish I called Flying Fish Charters and Captain Brad responded quickly. He was clearly knowledgeable and answered all of my questions with patience. We set a tentative date for our fishing adventure. Prior to our fishing date, he was clear in his communication of where and when to meet him and what we needed to bring. When we arrived that morning he was ready to roll, along with his First Mate Jess. We started by reviewing safety equipment, certifications and procedures. In keeping with several reviews I read, Brad seemed to the be just as excited as us throughout the day. These positive vibes are infectious and creates an enjoyable atmosphere for everyone. I know that there are good days and bad days in fishing and in life (we did have a great haul in terms of fish caught) but it’s important to me that people just have fun on any of life’s adventures. This was 100% true for both Captain Brad and First mate Jess. I should also note that the boat was clean and comfortable with plenty of space. Brad was fine with us climbing up in the tower so we could see the incredible views and learn what he looks for while fishing. Both of them took great effort in teaching us on many aspects of fishing (What to look for, rigs, bait, technique etc.). They make a fantastic family friendly team. As a huge bonus, Captain Brad and Jess cleaned the fish at the conclusion of the trip. I vacuum sealed and froze the meat. As mentioned earlier, he put us on the fish and subsequently we will be eating fish for a long time. My family felt comfortable and welcome with them from the very beginning and throughout the trip. Absolutely amazing experience! I had the pleasure of going on an offshore fishing trip with Captain Brad and First Mate Jess for an annual boys trip, and I can’t say enough good things about them. From the moment we boarded the boat, their professionalism and enthusiasm were obvious. Captain Brad’s knowledge of the waters was second to none. He knew exactly where the fish were with tons of locations saved on his GPS, and he made sure we had the best chance to reel in something delicious. Jess was incredibly helpful, always ready with tips and assistance, and not only handled all of the dirty work but allowed us to be hands on and learn how things work and when to use them. The boat ran incredibly smooth through a pretty rough sea for a bit but somehow Brad was able to navigate the swells better than I handle the wake at my local lake, and they both made sure we were comfortable and safe the entire time. It was clear they both have a real passion for what they do, which made the experience even better. We ended up catching at least 12 different species of fish highlighted by a monster barracuda, hit the limit for snapper, and pulled in Bonita tuna until our arms wore out! I've booked a lot of family experiences and what I've found is that many offer the same kind of experience. What truly sets one apart from the others is the love they have for their job. The Captain and mate Hunter love what they do. Their personalities and willingness to be flexible to meet my families needs went above and beyond. We booked the 5 hour tour a little early in the season, but they adjusted and found spots for us to catch our fill. The boat was awesome and my wife enjoyed the fact that there was covering to get out of the sun if she wanted and a full bathroom. I will be booking here again.
