Forget the rest, folks, your taste buds deserve a vacation HERE! After a culinary week of "meh" in this Ocean Isle Beach neck of the woods, we stumbled into this place on our last night. Holy moly! Had we started here, our entire vacation would've been a glorious, week-long menu conquest. And I ain't kiddin'.
First off, the menu? Dangerously good. Nine of us looked at it and descended into a full-blown "what should I order?!" debate, finally agreeing on a strategic "order different, share everything" plan. Then came the bread basket. Oh. Em. Gee. Two kinds of bread, each with its own swoon-worthy dip. Some herby olive oil magic and melted butter – already winning. But the real MVP? These square rolls. Seriously, what kind of doughy sorcery was that? Freaking yum doesn't even cover it.
Fast forward: two at the table were practically serenading the Lobster Ravioli. Three burger aficionados went rogue with different choices, and guess what? Every single burger was a perfectly cooked, lip-smacking triumph. But hold onto your hats, because the Alabama Chicken (that SAUCE, people!) and the Hanger Steak stole the darn show. That cherry-kissed sauce on the tender steak? I'm pretty sure angels wept. I'll be chasing that flavor in my dreams for years.
Bottom line: if we lived around here, this would be our "TGIF, taste buds!" ritual. Seriously, fabulous doesn't even begin to cover it. Go. Now....
Read moreWalking around, looking for good local food on this restaurant-loaded Water Front Ave, in Little River, SC, we happened upon Mako’s Marina Bar & Grill. To call it a “Bar & Grill” runs shy of the gourmet cuisine you’ll experience at Makos! We were warmly greeted by Stasy who promptly seated us. One look at the menu and we knew we were in for some extraordinary food from Chefs Tim and Rachel. We started with the Mako’s Lump Crab Dip that was a cheesy medley chocked full of tender lump crab with crispy chips. Three of us enjoyed the Pan Seared Jerk Mahi that presented with a sizably thick portion of tender Mahi, glazed whole carrots, coconut rice, a Mango Salsa & a smooth Tropical Pineapple Beurre Blanc. The Alabama Style Chicken with tender slices of chicken breast ladled with Alabama White Sauce with a generous portion of tender green beans & baby potatoes was equally tasty. Our attentive server, Stasy introduced us to Chef Rachel, also a pastry chef, who created this delicious mint infused Blueberry Cobbler topped with homemade vanilla gelato covered with a mint infused caramel sauce. Oh, so delicious & easily shareable for two. If your looking for a memorable dining experience, in an impeccably clean, well-appointed yet casually comfortable, air-conditioned restaurant with delicious food, Mako’s Marina Bar & “Gourmet” Grill is where...
Read moreCame in mid rush hour and Jackie seated my friend and I, despite not having a reservation and a packed restaurant- thanks, Jackie!! We were starving and heard great things about the place, so especially thankful. We ordered one of their speciality espresso drinks that was bourbon and vermouth based and the Club Clover (if I'm not mistaken) along with the Arugula Walnut salad to start. Both drinks were well balanced and the salad was delicious- the warm house dressing really made it. My friend ordered the 8oz Linzer Hanger Steak and I ordered the Scallop & Risotto. Y'all. D e v i n e. The cherries and red wine reduction that accompanied the steak just took the dish to the next level. The risotto was literally perfection and the scallops were beautifully cooked. We got a Smoked Cinnamon Espresso Martini and the Jack Rabbit along with the creme brulee for dessert. The martini was the perfect accoutrement to the creme brulee, but the Jack Rabbit is definitely something I'd order again and again. A little spicy, a little sweet, and super refreshing. Jackie definitely knows what he's doing and his service was phenomenal. Highly recommend coming here for great drinks...
