Kind ... Professional ... Courteous ... Respectful ... and more. Consignment Stores serve 2 groups of people: Customers who browse and buy nice things. Consignors who provide the merchandise that the store sells (the store pays the consignors after items are sold; they don't get the items for free). I am a Consignor. My wife is a local ceramic artist. I approached Upscale Resale's Owner (Phyllis) to see if she would offer some of my wife's beautiful pottery for sale to her customers. Having just met me for the first time, Phyllis generously talked with me at the front counter while she smoothly greeted many incoming customers warmly welcoming them one and all and letting them all know how to understand today's sales as indicated by the different colored price tags on the merchandise. Phyllis was kind, honest, and straight-forward in a good way as she explained to me how it would work with me being a consignor for Upscale Resale. She appreciated the beauty and craftsmanship of my wife's pottery and kindly explained that the prices necessary to sell the items would be significantly lower than "regular retail". In my experience, Phyllis graciously and intelligently balances the needs of her customers and her consignors as follows: Phyllis makes sure to take good care of her customers who want to enjoy their time browsing, hunting for treasure, and buying great items at prices that are significantly lower than "regular retail". She also respects and appreciates her consignors including local artists, craftsmen, and craftswomen many of whom love their art but would like someone else (like Phyllis) to handle the whole retail side of selling their creations. So, if you are a customer looking to browse in a nice and friendly consignment shop, stop by Upscale Resale in North Myrtle Beach (and if interested, look for my wife's beautiful handmade pottery being sold for great prices). And, if instead, you are a consignor yourself, then either: A) You already know how great Upscale Resale and Phyllis are; or B) You need to start working with Phyllis and Upscale Resale. Thank You Kindly! Patrick from North...
Read moreSome cute furniture. And some of the furniture looked like it belonged at Goodwill rather than a consignment shop (worn down or dirty). The salespeople could use some training.... I saw a Dooney cover on a bag (couldn't see the purse) and it was sitting close to the register. So I asked the lady if it was on hold and she said no, but harshly told me that I couldn't buy it because it wasn't processed. What she could have done is show the bag and tell me to come back or even offer to call someone for the price. If you don't want people to ask about unprocessed items don't put it where customers could see it. With that rudeness, I didn't feel like shopping here when there are nicer people in nicer consignment...
Read moreGreat place that has almost anything that you might need to add to your rental or your home. Good quality merchandise at reasonable prices. Note the prices are not yard sale prices but are about 1/2 or less of what the items sold for new.. The owner and all of the staff go out of their way to be helpful from picking something out to loading the car. We have sold lots of pieces there and our stuff has always sold quickly. The only issue is my wife always buys more quality things for the house with the money she has made selling our stuff. Stop by, its...
