RUN AWAY AS FAST AS YOU CAN!! Wish I could give zero stars. We have been ghosted multiple times by owner Gary after our several attempts to resolve an issue with the custom dining room table set we purchased over 4 years ago. They seem to care while trying to gain your business, but once they’ve got your money and delivered your product, their follow service is atrocious.
We purchased $10k worth of custom furniture from their store in late 2019. For the dining table set, I asked the owner’s wife, who was assisting us, if a rough sawn table top would still be flat enough that a plate wouldn’t wobble, while still achieving a distressed look. I was assured that was true. Our table’s surface is so uneven that we have to be very careful with where cups and plates are set so they don’t wobble and spill, which is completely impractical for my family with young kids.
Then, after just a few short months of use, we began having issues with the finish flaking off. Our table is stained with a glazed finish over top. Initially, we thought it was due to a piece of scotch tape that had been used to hold a protective covering on the table for a very brief time. However, over time, finish has flaked off around all edges of the table, just with regular use (no more tape).
Additionally, the heads of 3 screws used to mount the tabletop to the supporting brackets underneath have completely fallen off and been found laying on the floor. This table does not get moved around; it has always remained in the same place, so the only reason I can come up with is that the screws were overtightened during assembly.
I emailed Gary with my concerns in mid-2020. He responded, offering to run the top through a sander and he was going to check into the concerns with the finish. He said he could pickup the table in about a month, since things were crazy with the lockdowns (perfectly understandable). I reached out 2 months later, and he said he’d come pick it up within a few weeks. Two more months went by, so I reached out again. This time – no response. I reached out again another 4 months later (early 2021)…nothing.
An entire year went by and we heard nothing. By this time, we had 3 young kids, so it was hard to find the time to follow-up. My husband finally went to the store in early 2022 to talk to Gary directly. Gary claimed he “hadn’t forgotten about us” and would reach out soon to arrange pickup and repair of our table. Here we are two years later, and we’ve still heard nothing from him.
So, we are stuck with a several thousand-dollar piece of furniture for which we can get no remedy because of Furniture Nook’s awful customer service. I strongly suggest you save yourself the headache and time, and...
Read moreWe bought four dining room chairs from the Furniture Nook. If I was only rating the chairs, I'd give five stars. The chairs are beautiful, and the quality is excellent. However, the service we received during the process was closer to one star. We ordered the chairs on February 4th. We were told that day to expect a six to eight week turnaround. This sounded reasonable. A few days after eight weeks passed, my wife called to ask for an update. The person she spoke with told her they'd look into it and call her back. Over a week passed, so I called to ask why no one had called her back, and to ask for an update. The person I spoke with said the wait time was actually more like 10-12 weeks. And that updates are hard to get from their Amish builders as they don't use technology. But, she said the next day they'd be visiting their staining shop and would get me an update. More than three weeks passed without a callback. I called and left a message asking for a callback and update. I was called the next day, and told "we can't call customers back with updates, as we have over 200 orders at a given time." And the excuse about not having updates due to the Amish not using phones was used again. Finally, we got our chairs 15 weeks after ordering them. Despite taking longer than not only what we were originally told, but also the updated timeframe, we never once received an apology for the lack of follow-up or communication. That was much more upsetting than the wait itself. Delays happen. But to not have the delays communicated, and to have no one we spoke with own the poor communication, it left us feeling as though our business is not valued. Read moreI can not express how disappointed we are with our purchase. As another reviewer said, run far away from here. We ordered a desk 11/18/2023. It was delivered in March 2024 (I don't remember the exact day). It was custom made from one we saw on their Facebook posts, but with a few tweaks. Because I have back issues we wanted a power strip at the top of the desk. We also requested a task light over the main work area instead of inside the hutch. They were supposed to find out if the builder could do those things. Nobody contacted us until we called several months later to confirm. At that point we were told we could not cancel the order. (Even though they never checked on the modifications we requested). We could not see it prior to delivery. The desk is beautiful and power strip works. However, the task light that is supposed to allow me to see when I write is nothing more than a little China cabinet puck light. We have been trying to resolve this issue for months. Never get a call back and the last we heard was they were checking with the builder. I just called today for some status and they are doing nothing and had the nerve to tell me I'm being difficult! Well, they received 100% of their money and we did not receive what we ordered. We are stuck with this. If it could not have been made to our specifications I would have understood and found something else. They apparently do not know their product. And their claim that their prices are cheaper than in Amish country is false. They are more conveniently located is all.
