Cockroaches, peeling ceilings, broken fixtures, non-working HVAC, rusted metal inside and out, broken floor tiles, unavailable amenities. Would NOT recommend St Regis and the place deserves zero stars except for the easy access to the nice Beach. Wish I hadn't trusted the travel agency and had looked at other reviews showing the place falling apart and the cockroaches. First night we saw cockroaches crawling into the bedroom after we had gotten into bed that we had to kill and contacted the management office and sent pictures and was told that an exterminator would come. No exterminator ever came and we had to go into town to Dollar General and buy bug spray to treat the entire apartment ourselves. We were told no other units were available but maintenance told us that other units also had cockroaches. Maintenance sent an HVAC guy during our trip and after we waited for him for a while he said he charged the unit but the temperature only continued to go up and it was smoldering during the day so never actually fixed. When we checked in we noticed our balcony light didn't work, there were some cracks in the concrete so management office said maintenance would replace the light bulb but maintenance came and said that HOA maintenance has to do it and when HOA maintenance finally came they said the entire fixture had to be replaced but the guy took everything apart and left it on the floor of the balcony and never came back. So we never got to use our balcony after dark safely or comfortably because we could see in the cracks of the concrete over the balcony that something built a nest up there and it was too dark at night with roaches and cracks in upper and lower concrete and poor maintenance it didn't seem safe. Pieces of the peeling ceiling was falling on the floor which is definitely a hazard if you have small children. Layers of dust and hair everywhere that we had to clean, mostly human but some pet hair in the towels that were supposedly clean and on shower walls. Heard crunching and felt uneven flooring in living room, looked under area rug and saw many broken tiles some stuck to the bottom of the rug. Maintenance said the owners know but just aren't fixing it. The card fob used to access the fitness center and sauna was in pieces when we arrived but a nice maintenance/cleaning duo did come and replace it and do some vacuuming for the sand that was in the room when we got there. Condo hadn't been dusted in a long time. Layers of spider webs in gym, no open pools. No advertised hot tub or steam room. Dry sauna was nice. The closest elevator to us stopped working but it took them two days to put up a sign. Seriously feel like we need a tetanus shot after being in this place and we carefully shook out everything because of the roaches and the filth to make sure we weren't bringing...
Read moreTrying to find parking in front of the building we stayed in was a struggle, which made it difficult to unload everything out of our vehicle. There are also too few carts to bring things in on. We ended up making multiple trips, carrying heavy bags in. They had two elevators in our building, both were super slow. There seemed to be a 5 minute wait when we tried to use the elevator.
Once in the condo itself, it was beautiful. The condo (2106) was very clean and perfectly decorated. Taking trash to the trash chute was kind of a pain, because the chute opening was small, so we had to cram our bags of trash in to it. There were board games for rainy days in one of the closets which came in handy. Our balcony overlooked the ocean and the chairs on the balcony were comfortable. My mom enjoyed seeing the dolphins swim by. The doors to the balcony seemed extra hard to slide open.
There were both stairs and a ramp option to get across the dune and onto the beach. The beach was fairly crowded in the afternoon but if you go out in the morning or evening, you’ll get a decent spot. The people who rented umbrellas and chairs tended to get the best spots. People also left their tents and chairs unattended, throughout the day so they could keep that same location on the beach when they were ready to come back out. Also, the beach was clean with the exception of the occasional piece of garbage. There were lots of shells and sharks teeth to be found. Even some sea glass. We did not venture to the pool, but walking past it, it seemed nice. Music was played for those who were in the pool. There are grills between two of the buildings that a lot of people utilized.
There was a Food Lion and Dollar General nearby in case we needed to pick up any groceries or essential items. The souvenir shops were also nice. They were typical souvenir shops you’d find at the beach.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay and only found a few minor things...
Read moreSt. Regis Unit 2208, renter beware, When we arrived (Saturday at 6pm), we found the unit with multiple issues. These included: some lights not working, very dirty areas (floor, urine on bathroom floor, bunkbed ladder.), water leak in the master bathroom toilet, smashed in control panel to dishwasher (tech actually told us to stick our hand behind the broken panel with exposed wires to use the dishwasher), blinds broken in all bedrooms (my daughter's room and bed could be fully viewed from the pool and outside areas), missing deck furniture, and a pile of used cleaners and paper products under severely water damaged bathroom sink. No one able to be contacted or help until Monday because the offices were closed. The cleaners and handyman did visit and were very nice. I had already purchased cleaners and cleaned most of the unit myself due to the state of the unit. Red sticker dots were everywhere and signified things that were broken (so the owners/renters knew things were broken ). The reality company never let us speak to anyone other than the young lady at the front desk on Monday. The manager(s) did not care enough about our experience to talk to us. My husband attempted to call and visit the office several times. We had to put a sheet over my daughter's sliding door the whole time and nothing was every actually fixed during our stay. We have been visiting Topsail for 10 years. We love Topsail and have always had amazing experiences. We will never rent here again based on this experience. There are many options available with great views besides having to clean the dirty and broken unit with a realty company that did not support...
