Tiki Bar at North End Market — Restaurant in North Topsail Beach

Love the set up and the vibe. They get that part right. But the drinks themselves were sub-par.

No menu, so you have to either order something the bartender knows how to make, or you have to provide them a recipe.

The back bar wasn’t very impressive, especially lacking in rum selection for a tiki bar.

I ordered a Mai Tai. The bartender had to consult a notebook, which didn’t bother me at all, but might speak to how infrequent a request that is (which isn’t a great sign for a self-professed tiki bar). The version I got had pineapple juice and I didn’t see them add or taste in the final product anything resembling orgeat. It was drinkable, but only recognizable as a “beach mai tai”. I saw Mr. Black coffee liqueur… so, I asked if they could do a Mr. Bali Hai. They didn’t know what that was and asked me what was in it. I didn’t wanna have to provide them.

It’s fine if you’re looking for typical beach drink fare (vaguely tropical-themed, sweet, punches). If you’re looking for craft cocktails, or authentic tiki though, I would look elsewhere.

The staff are really nice and friendly, though. Good service and food trucks, plus a market...

6 of us came here together. The bartender was very rude right away. She rolled her eyes when my wife and I were dehydrated and wanted to start with water and lemon. The drinks we ordered after that were not blended all the way and barely had alcohol in them. One other person in my group got handed a hot beer. Very poor service and poor quality of drinks for the $86 we shelled out. The sandy area where the picnic benches are had nails littered in the sand. The bartender tried to run off a friendly man who was setting up a karaoke stand and telling him “We aren’t that kind of place.” and “We’re going out of business.” We went back to our beach house and made our own drinks way better and with no headaches! Not a good experience. I don't recommend this...

Tiki bar & market 10/10 Kayla as the bartender 0/10. Our group was starting to enjoy ourselves & apparently I showed too much excitement for Kayla. When I went to order 5 shots for the group and a drink for my boyfriend & I she gave me the option of a drink or a shot not both... yet didn't refuse the other 2 men who were drinking the exact same amount as me.... nor did she refuse service to a woman who showed up visibly & heavily intoxicated.. just singled me out... She had no issues with the amount I was drinking when she was having fun & taking a shot with us... An owner & his wife were there we were all having a great time until I was singled out.... we are staying across the street and we were prepared to be back but now we are...
