I'm not sure if I should even give this place 3 stars, the pros included a fantastic view, a great restaurant and atmosphere and great customer service, the cons however greatly outweigh the pros and we will not be returning to this specific complex. Because each unit is privately owned I'll be separating the massive amounts of issues we had by room and by complex.
Room: (2612 specifically) Ancient kitchen (I mean probably not touched since the building was built), our fridge does not close properly, our microwave seems to be from the 90s and you need to guess and add a few minutes when you use it, our toaster is so old it only toasts one side at a time, our oven had a sign above it saying "250°=400°" so we didn't even try to mess with that, our dishwasher was so bad that even before we used any of the dishes they were disgusting, we had a wet bar with no running water. Upon arrival our ice machine was filled with water and pouring out of the fridge, there were at least 4-5 light fixtures in need of a lightbulb replacement and while those issues were solved quickly I did not come on vacation to change lightbulbs for you. Before booking we called to confirm there were TV's in each room and they confirmed they sent someone to check, there were not TV's in the rooms. One night we caught a HUGE roach crawling across our floor. It's clear that the owner either hasn't been here in a long time or they just don't care about it. But for $1600 we should not feel like we're staying in a crappy motel with a great view. Our friends room was flooded upon arrival and they had to be moved to an entirely different building when we planned to be next to each other for a reason.
The complex: We did receive great service, when we complained about the room we we're offered a great replacement however the view was nothing and that's half the reason we come so we didn't move. Other than that, the building seems like it hasn't been touched since it was built, there are random pieces of wall outside missing, no vents in the bathrooms, Rusty rails, etc. They also of course had to be starting roof construction at 830am every day we were there and got the pleasant experience of waking up to loud banging and paint from our ceiling falling on our face. The outdoor and indoor pools are well maintained but good luck finding and opportunity to get in it because they are not nearly big enough for the size of these complexes.
Overall I can't hate the building but there were way too many issues for St. Regis to represent the room we have and for them to ignore about their own building for us to probably ever come back to...
Read moreMy husband and I travel widely and frequently, and we've never had an issue like we had at the St. Regis. We arrived to find both elevators broken (no one at the front desk told us there was a third freight elevator available to us). I had to haul all of our stuff up five flights of stairs to our condo. It took four trips. When we got into Unit #2506, nothing had been cleaned. There was fecal matter, urine and pubic hairs on the commode, toothpaste spatters all over the mirror, and thick mold on the shower curtains. I called the owner who was sympathetic and helpful, and assured us the condo would be cleaned. Supposedly, the elevator was fixed, and my husband went up to the 7th floor restaurant with two other guys, but it stopped several times, then dropped between the 6th and 7th floor. (The owner claimed later that no such thing had happened according to a computer-generated record of the hydraulics.) The next day, she sent someone to clean the condo while we were at the beach. When we returned, my wedding band and silver necklace were gone. Again, I called the owner and she said that the cleaning team was bonded and that she'd never had any problems before. She clearly did not believe me. (This was the most infuriating thing.) The next morning, the water in the entire complex went out due to some break in the water line on the street. At this point, we were DONE. We filed a police report for the theft, packed the car after having only stayed two nights of a 7-night stay. The owner will not answer my phone or reply to my email, so we were screwed out of our rental costs. Word to the wise: Do not rent...
Read moreMy family and I are renting a unit in Building 2. I have been to the HOA office for help with my key fob and a building maintenance (not unit maintenance) issue. My requests were handled immediately by the building staff in a professional and courteous manner.
I also see the maintenance crew constantly performing maintenance and preventative maintenance around the building/grounds. However, preventative maintenance being performed does not mean that things stay in working condition in this ocean front environment.
Starting at building 1 and moving north to building 3, you have the following recreational amenities: Playground - closed Beach access 1 - open Pool (used to be indoor) - closed Beach access 2 - closed Outdoor pool - open Outdoor game area - open.
If part of the desire to rent here, short or long term, is the amenities, I would look elsewhere. The pool that is closed has been closed for 4 years, the playground has been succumbing to the environment for the last few years and has been repaired a few times before it was finally beyond repair.
I am unsure of how the hierarchy works with the HOA and/or management as far as who would be responsible for being proactive and planning/discussing replacing/repairing these items that will all ultimately reach the end of their serviceable life. It is certainly being handled in a reactive manner when there is plenty of time/opportunity to be proactive. In other words, there is no good excuse for how run down/broken...
