UPDATE 7/1/25 Boycott Kroger - Manager Ken called me a liar by saying the store has no pregnant people working as comanager but they do; store doors are never locked but cart attendants told me they were and i had to use another door; manager questioned safety issues that violate OSHA... Wow! And it's the customers fault store items are misplaced and not even the staff can find it. Give this manager a promotion!
Unsafe and uncaring experience at Kroger (6/29/25)
The usual entrance was locked with no sign, forcing me to guess how to enter. Sales posters blocked the ENTER/EXIT signs — as someone with a vision impairment, this is dangerous. I almost got hit by the exit door swinging open.
Inside, prices were mislabeled (avocados marked 75¢ rang up at $2.49; sour cream had a red slash but no price), and items were hidden in the wrong aisles.
And I FINALLY found FROZEN CANNED ORANGE JUICE in Isle 14 with pizza, ice cream, desserts NOT in Isle 13 with the sign saying "frozen juice." What's the big deal? I have been looking for purchase canned frozen orange juice for A MONTH. I searched the frozen freezer cases over the past month. I asked the store manager if the store is selling canned frozen orange juice and she says NO! NO WONDER you cannot find it in ISLE 14 hidden behind the condensation on the freezer glass.
The cashier said its't not her job to know prices and whatever is on the item is the price. I tried to show the picture of the price on the shelf, she called the manager over. Neither would have anything to do with the evidence in the photo. I became so exasperated, I said "that's it! I am abandoning my order." I have NEVER done this before. But I had enough.
When I raised safety and pricing concerns to the manager, she became angry and told me to leave. As I left, the parking lot was pitch black — another serious safety hazard.
Basic customer care and safety are clearly not priorities at this store. I...
Read moreI had stopped shopping at this store months ago, but needed just a couple of prepackaged things today, so I decided to chance it din exits the closest store to my house. Never again. I put my items back when I got to the checkout to find long lines down the aisles due to understaffing.
I’ve been so disappointed in the increasingly poor condition of this store since I moved to the area 8 years ago. This Kroger is, without contest, the worst grocery store within 10 miles.
First, upon walking through the doors you are immediately and insistently greeted with the unmistakeable smell of rotten produce & meat. I can only imagine there is an interior trash area?, from where the foul smells come wafting.
Next, comes the confidence destroying sound of refrigeration units breaking down.
And last, is the serious understaffing. You couldn’t ask for nicer, more helpful cashiers, baggers and self-checkout monitors. The people who work the front of this store are delightful. However, I absolutely expect enough lanes to be open that no line is more than 4 people long.
With Cantoros, Meijer, Trader Joe’s, Target, Costco, & a new Nino Salvaggio market coming soon on Haggerty, and a very nice Bushes just over a mile away on Newburgh, you would think that Kroger would have done better to keep the previously very loyal Hiller’s Market customers shopping at this location at 5 mile & Haggerty.
As it stands, I highly recommend shopping...
Read moreYIKES! A cashier (Elaine) who was on her way out of the store decided to LITERALLY bolted in front of my daughter to intentionally get in her path (by the customer service desk), raised her voice and told my daughter "We close in a few minutes" then huffed out the door but quickly turned around and came back in, headed towards the back. When I tell you this woman was so close to my daughter, had there not been height difference, they'd have been nose to nose!! (My daughter is taller) When I realized what had happened, I asked to speak to management. One wasn't available but luckily when I turned to go grab my item, ELAINE was walking back out, apparently they weren't close enough to close for HER to purchase something. I told her she had no business talking to my daughter like she did. She huffed and said "don't you point your finger at me!" She attempted to get harsh with me like she did my daughter I told her as a woman, she should know better than to approach someone's children like that. She tried to over talk me but quickly got shut down. She then shook her head and walked away. We won't be doing business with Kroger...
