Thies Farm & Greenhouses, Inc — Local services in Norwood Court

I've made my last visit to the Thies farm location on Hanley Road. The once-high quality summer vegetables have sunk to a level that now are virtually inedible, and the prices have soared to double or triple what you'll pay anywhere else, The once-friendly ample staff have been replaced by a harried few who are obviously overworked.

What a shame!. For about 20 years, we went there at least once a week and stocked up on the best produce in town are very reasonable prices. We've been there just twice this year. The first time was just before July 4, and we left without buying anything because the prices were so high. We returned just before Labor Day and bought just two ears of corn, a small container of canning tomatoes, and one zucchini because the prices were so high and we had already burned the gas to get there.

The next day, when we husked the corn to serve it at our BBQ, it was literally so shriveled up and stale, it was literally inedible. The canning tomatoes were unwashed and dirty at double the price of last year during what the news media has called a Missouri bumper crop. We've yet to cook the zucchini.

Anyone know the reason? Change of ownership is just...

Thies farm.is awesome.we. celebrated my sons.girlfriends 22 birthday amoung family and.friends my 2 and a half year.old.granson wyatt was thrilled.ive known the thies farm.family for 20.years.they are truly wonderful.people who work very hard to feed the st Louis area the produce is like none other.all the workers.were very kind.and our day will.go down in our memory books for.a.life.time.thank u Dave thies for all.u do.love all u guys. Thies farm is sooooo awesome .they have been there for 150 years or.so.homegrown strawberries are the best in the world just bought some today.they have tons and tons of vegetable plants and flowers e.t.c I highly recommend u go and see the beautiful farm u won't be sorry.all.summer.long there's produce grown on the farm .Dave the owner I've known for over 25 years hes the best and his daughter Anne is just delightful .its a honor.just to know them keep up the good work and...
