I went in to see Dr. Williams for little blisters that were appearing on my thumb and fingers. He examined and explained that what was going on was an autoimmune reaction and had labs done so he could treat the root cause and wanted to rule out pre-Lupus. He also prescribed me a topical steroid which took the blisters away quickly. I continue to be under Dr. Williams care to keep a watch of the antibodies level. What I learned is that many dermatologists uncover medical issues from skin conditions. I feel really appreciative that Dr. Williams didn’t just treat the symptoms, but cares enough to rule out any autoimmune disease or inflammatory response.
Also, while working with Doctor Williams on the autoimmune reaction I was having, he asked me a bunch of questions about symptoms I was experiencing and I explained that I had been feeling sluggish, fatigued/lack of energy, weak in legs for the last 5 years. Dr. Williams order labs to check my adrenal function and found that I was hypothyroid which is funny because I was just listening to a podcast by Elle Russ about thyroid function and had wondered if I was hypo. All medical doctors that I have visited and ran labs have always told me that my thyroid function was normal. After examining the labs, Dr. Williams prescribed me a low dose prescription and plant based adrenal supplements to help increase my T3, Cortisol levels and to improve my overall adrenal function. After 3 days on the prescription and supplements, I began to feel so much better and my energy levels increased. If you are looking for a wellness doctor, I highly recommend visiting Dr. Williams to discuss...
Read moreAloha! I’m a senior living on the beautiful island of Oahu in Hawaii. I’m currently retired and living on a fixed income. I was blessed to find Hawaiian Islands Dermatology through my Medicare Advantage Insurance while seeking treatment for thinning hair. The first time I walked into their office, filled with such high quality products, the latest in skin and hair treatments and equipment, I was reminded of my younger years when I could afford to treat myself to this kind of high end care. Little did I know that I had found an office with a group of people that would provide the kind of care that I no longer believe I could afford. Doug Williams, PA-C, Shane and all of the beautiful and kind staff at Hawaiian Islands Dermatology have continued to treat me with the upmost kindness, respect and care that I received from my very first appointment. Doug’s holistic medical knowledge always amazes me. As a RN with 45 years of experience, I know what quality medical care looks like. Doug goes out of his way to offer me treatments that work within my budget. For all of you who like me, felt that this level of care was out of reach, I encourage you to give Hawaiian Islands Dermatology a call. You will be surprised to find that you can give yourself a level of care that is still within your budget. Thank you Doug, Shane and every staff member for treating me like a true...
Read moreI started going to Kailua Dermatology Centers around August 2016. I have a skin condition called Hidradenitis Supperativa. It can be a very painful condition. When I started going I couldn't wear pants, or stand or walk for long periods. Even sitting could be painful. I was trying to find a surgeon and so ready to go under the knife just for relief.
Then I started seeing Christina Robbins at Kailua Dermatology Centers. I was put on Humira. It is a biologic and it had been proving helpful for others with HS. What else could I lose by giving it a try? Humira gave me my life back! I can wear pants and keep up with my 3 young kids.
So, if you have HS and are looking for a place to go, I highly recommend Kailua Dermatology Centers, and Humira.
I also suggest Christina Robbins. She was very knowledgeable in the condition and medication, or willing to find the answers. I never felt rushed and felt like a person rather than just a number. We recently moved away and I wish I could have brought them...
