The Shack Kailua — Restaurant in Hawaii

Worst place we've been in all HI. Several islands, months of experience here and this place holds that dubious honor. Drink menu incomplete, after 4 wrong drinks the waitress tells us that "there's supposed to be a comma inbetween" [drink items]. This after asking what makes a certain drink a certain way and her lying about how are drinks were these. Fries cost extra on most meals. She got one of our party's orders wrong after she pointed to it on the menu and later confirmed it. After we switched it out due to this person's intolerance, the replacement for this wrong order came back charred with terrible canned mushrooms. During the serving of the entrees the waitress spilled, not just one, but two sides of tartar one after the other. Splashing one of our party up their leg and then getting on the other's purse. The waitress comped $10 for the order mistake, but this did nothing for the now tarter reeking vehicle and their shoddy drink menu. This may be fine for those close by but there is so much better elsewhere in HI and you're ripping yourself and your family off by going here. Not just monetarily, but from the amazing food HI has to offer. Say no mahalo to The Shack and your family will...

Our waitress was Honey !!!! My daughter in law and myself came in with my 1-1/2 yr old grandson. After taking our orders we waited 1-1/2 hrs for our food I finally realized that the baby wasn’t going to sit any longer and I asked when our food was coming. Her comment to me,, a 73 year old woman - “if you were Jesus himself you wouldn’t get it any sooner “ There were quite a few people with their mouths hanging open in our dining room area that heard her remark !!! She never once said anything about how they were under staffed - only had 1 cook and still had tables waiting that were there before we were !!!! I’m sorry but you don’t keep people waiting for 1-1/2 hrs with a baby and then tell them that even if I were Jesus I wouldn’t get my food any faster !!! Wrong reply...

There’s a lot of good food in Hawaii. Sadly, you won’t find any of it here. Overpriced, overcooked and overall terrible. Had the worst (most expensive) chicken sandwich of my life once here. Burnt, tasteless, and came a side of soggy fries. Once was enough. Would never punish my tastebuds or my wallet by willingly choosing to eat there again. They are currently hiring, probably because some staff are condescending and rude and anyone with half a brain would rather work elsewhere. Situated in enchanted lakes across from the shopping plaza/Safeway, and a five minute drive to Kailua town. Don’t be fooled by the quaint exterior. Only disappointment at an upcharge are to be found inside. The ‘atmosphere’ isn’t worth the price for glorified...
