Great lunch overall! My son and I went to pick up lunch Monday on a recommendation from a friend. I try to post positive stuff which makes writing this pretty easy. Biggest downside is, you can only get takeout. The overall experience was very good!

I am very picky and honest, so here it is.

The food is very fresh! They lightly char the gyro meat which is traditional and and very good. The fries were great! You gotta put the garlic fries on the gyro. The salad and dressing was good, just needed a few more olives. The thick tzatziki sauce was lighter on the cucumber and heavier on dill, I prefer it the other way around. That being said, it was still very good. The baklava was different than I am used to, made with pecans but was very good.

When I told the person who took our order that I had to drive to another side of the island, she actually packed everything individually so the hot food stayed hot and the cold food and sauces stayed cold. Everything was fresh except the fries which we put in the oven to heat up. Even after a 45 minute drive home, everything was great. I am assuming the Owner was working the counter and was very pleasant and helpful with her suggestions. I ordered double portions of meat for me and the family and was worth the extra money. We will definitely go back to try other items. They should put another Yamas out by Mililani. Lol

You can never have too many olives, tomatoes, feta...

Came in earlier today for lunch and the place was still doing take out only and no dine in.

The lady that was there was super sweet and so nice. She seemed to know all the regulars that walked in for their phone orders so that’s a major plus! She even told me to get extra spanakopita on the side of my souvlaki so it’s cheaper instead of getting a spanakopita appetizer and a main (which was my original order). That’s another plus!

Let’s talk about the food! Honestly it’s the best Greek food I’ve had in Oahu so far! It reminded me so much how I used to have them in NYC. Everything was flavorful and she wasn’t even stingy with the lamb meats in my souvlaki. Not to mention everything was so juicy I almost created a mess eating in the car. The lamb meats were tender too and very well seasoned.

The lamb souvlaki came with 2 pieces of spanakopita. And then I ordered extra and that’s another $3 I believe for another 2 pieces so a total of 4 spanakopitas and a lamb souvlaki for $16. Which is not bad considering I’ve had pricier Greek food on the island. I believe you can pick either spanakopita, garlic fries, dolmades or Greek salad for your sandwich side.

The spanakopitas were flaky and so good too! All the dishes came with a cucumber-yogurt sauce. She gave me 3 plastic tubs of the yogurt sauce! She’s honestly the best! That was definitely worth the drive and I would come back again to try the rest...

I've never had Mediterranean food, decided to give this place a shot and it was a good call! I called and made a reservation for 2, which I'm happy I did because it gets pretty busy around dinner time. Wednesday night and they were pretty full up. We were quickly seated and handed menus. They are BYOB, so feel free to bring in drinks and they will provide the glasses for you. Ambience was nice, comfortable, marble tables, nice scenic decor on the walls. We started with the the sampler as our appetizer. Everything on there was ono! I particularly loved the zucchini fries, they were fried perfectly and the tzatziki dipping sauce with feta for them was killer. For my entrée I ordered the super gyro with garlic fries: a great choice! The meat had a slight crispness to it, the tzatziki was refreshing and the garlic fries were nice and garlic-y! Our waitress was very attentive and checked on us often.

Unfortunately, our baklava dessert was VERY disappointing. It was a corner piece, and it was over cooked, about 30% of it was actually a little burnt. Much of it had that bitter burnt taste. Not a good way to end the meal.

Overall, I'm happy with Yamas and would definitely go again for lunch or dinner. Might avoid...

Feta-feta-feta-fetabulous! Very sweet customer service and an incredibly thick tzatziki sauce. Nicely seasoned garlic fries & a cook who deep-fries like a champion. Family friendly joint & very kid-friendly, with an abundance of deep-fried items (zucchini fries!) and high chairs available. And yes, we called the lamb gyro an open-faced burger and kiddo LOOOOOOVED it. BYOB but water & unsweetened tea available. Would have liked fresher spinach and more feta in the spanakopita, and more fish in the fish souvlaki. But the phyllo was crunchy and well-baked, and the fish was well-cooked and juicy. We'll be back to try the homemade baklava. :)
