I brought my MacBook Pro here after experiencing random restarts and internet issues. My parents, loyal customers for years, vouched for their service—so I trusted their reputation.
The store "worked" on my laptop for a month. The diagnosis? A $500 board replacement. We declined the repair in thoughts that the computer would be returned to us in the same condition it was brought it.. they claimed they told us it was not functioning but I personally was never told that. They returned the laptop in worse condition than when I brought it in—it wouldn’t turn on, had been wiped (we agreed to this as we did this at home a couple months prior and it helped the issues before), and they claimed they couldn’t install the OS. Yet they still charged us $200. At this point, I had considered trading in at the apple store (because this store wouldn't let me do that either) and inquired about my trade in value based on the condition I had brought it in as. Because of their handling, what would have been a $320 in trade-in value was now nothing because it was now in worse condition—bringing our total loss to over $500. All for a “service” that left my machine inoperable. I cried on the car ride home feeling like someone had stolen this money from me.
Here’s where things get interesting: within an hour of getting it home, my husband—who has no tech background—installed the latest OS. The laptop has been running smoothly since. No new board, no $500 fix, no "expert" intervention.
I don’t question whether they did spend time working on it. I question whether they knew how to work on it properly, in a timely manner, and being able to to return it in the same condition it was brought in. There’s a difference between effort and effectiveness—especially when clients are paying for the latter.
If this was an outlier case in their usual business, then it was a missed opportunity for them to demonstrate integrity and goodwill. Unfortunately, they chose to protect the bill instead of the relationship.
We won’t be returning—and neither will my parents. Reputations are built on moments like this. It’s just unfortunate this one turned into a warning instead of a recommendation.
PS - I wrote this whole review on my macbook that clearly needs a new board (no random shutdowns, internet works fine, and battery life has never...
Read moreVery unethical and dishonest. Josh sold me an old laptop that didn't work and then lied about it.
I asked if they had any Macs, as I use Apple for work. Josh returned with a very old model. It was so old-looking, I wondered if it worked. He said it was the last one and it would be fine.
I returned a few hours later, as a few of the keys didn't work.
He suggested that I may have broken it somehow in the short time it was in my possession. I asked for a refund and told him I couldn't use a computer that wasn't functioning properly.
Then, as an afterthought, He said that just before I purchased it, he had checked every key. (Seriously?) He sounded like a kid who had been caught lying and was determined to stick to his story, regardless of how ridiculous it sounded.
I left the laptop on the counter and walked away, having lost $150.
When I mentioned I'd write a bad review, he laughed and said he'd stack a bunch of good ones on top of it so it'd be buried.
I think it’s a good example of someone working in the family business that didn’t have to build it from the ground up. His immaturity is only surpassed by his lack of ethics.
I’d look at all the one star reviews as they are the most honest. The fact that they admit they have fake reviews...
