Golden Crown Chinese Restaurant — Restaurant in Oak Park Heights

Read all please First I ordered takeout at the counter. The hostess/cashier/server was only on the front end and rushed, not the most welcoming. I only wanted a small portion of sweet and sour chicken as per the menu but was told that was no longer an option I had to increase that item to a large portion. If paying by card the machine prompts for a tip at time of ordering. I sat in the dark lobby and waited as my order was prepared and observered hostess/ cashier/ server treating all customers the same as I was. The food was prepared and packaged to take out quickly. I plated some food to eat ( see my 1st,only picture ) There were prepacked crunchy chow mein noodles, soy sauce, duck sauce, mustard, and fortune cookies included but not pictured. The chicken chowmein lacked chicken. I gathered all of the chicken it totaled barely 1/2 level teaspoon of meat in the entire portion. It was loaded with celery. The egg rolls were cooked perfectly and were tastier than I remembered however the were either not stuffed full or were rolled too loose. The sweet and sour chicked was cooked to just done, with no over fried peices. I will be back again however will try something different than the dissapointing chow mien. **Oct 15 I ordered online. Golden Crown is Absolutely a amazing place to eat in, or even to grab something to go. Always is hot, fresh, made to your order always! With always huge portions of top quality meals. For more than reasonable prices, especially for the amount and quality of the meals they serve. Being that of whatever you decide on from their many choices, which comes in full order or half order portions (large or small). I have seen many others besides myself, needing a box to take home the leftovers of their meal when dining in. You will always see regulars in large numbers eating in or for take out. That's because once you have eaten there, you are more than satisfied by the food, the prices and the customer service. (Can not understand anyone else who isn't satisfied with the prices and quality of Golden Crown in its entirety.) Thank You Golden Crown for continuing to serve Top Quality food and portions for the prices that you offer. I live on limited income and easily get 2-3 huge meals from your portions. And for the top quality service each time, regardless the date or time. More than Satisfied...

If I could give this place zero stars I would. Let's set the scene. It's a sunday...we're jonesing for some sweet sweet Chinese food...so we place and order for pick up and swing by to grab it. We get home we discover that we are missing items but were billed for them (yes we checked the bag one the way home and thought we had the requsit amountof containers). We call to figure out what happened and how we can get our stuff. No real apology was given, just an "i guess you can come back and get them if you want"....now mistakes happen, I get it, but the complete lack of empathy or at least offering something additional to make up for the fact that we've now had to drive back due to their mistake.....well heck....myself, my friends and my family will no longer be using this establishment again. We'll be spending our cash at a place that actually values...
