Washington County Heritage Center — Attraction in Stillwater

This is a great place to go. The front guide told us it was built just a couple years ago in like 2021 I think. There are some very interactive exhibits that adults and kids would enjoy. The only drawback, and why I took off a star, is that it has that feel of minimum om display. You can probably go through in like a half an hour. Every museum has its unexpected treasure and my vote for this museum would be the Afghani helmet given to an American serviceman in the chaotic last days before the American exit in 2021. It’s unique and has an amazing story attached to it. There is also a nice exhibit of Dakota beadwork and handcrafts and one of the most comprehensive early photography exhibits I have seen. “Stay Curious” is worth seeing on its own merits. Great experience! New, stylish exhibits about local history that have great hands-on and interactive components for everyone - adults and kids. The Runk photography exhibit was amazing, we loved the detailed enlargements of historic photos on the wall, and the story behind the collection was amazing. Truly a wonderful resource and story. The gift shop had some super cute items, and we spent longer than we expected to enjoying the museum. Definitely a must visit in Stillwater. Washington County should be...
