I visited the mountaineering school at the end of March. My boyfriend and I originally booked a snowshoe hike. Due to the lack of snow, our snowshoe hike got cancelled. However, they offered us a guided hike through Yosemite Valley, which is what we wanted to see anyway. Our hike guide was named Connor and he was wonderful. He seemed to know a lot about the park, which was impressive since he’s only been living there for 4 years now. We hiked with another couple and he was accommodating to all our needs. We stopped for a water break and he allowed us to use his own water filter when we took water from a natural spring for us to drink. At the end of our hike, he hiked us towards the direction of Mirror Lake, our next destination. We throughly enjoyed our time with Connor and the Yosemite Mountaineering School. We did a group climbing lesson, we were told it would be 6 people max per class but had 7 instead. The quality of the lesson was not very good, we were given some basic techniques at the beginning for like 20 minutes and once we started climbing we didn’t really receive any feedback on techniques or anything. The instructor was mainly just helping out one l person and didn’t give any other any attention so it didn’t really feel like a lesson or a class at all. Also the lesson description says 6 to 7 hours but it was more like 5 and a half hours. Comparing to other climbing experience we had at other national parks it was expensive and subpar basically.
