The Pizza Deck in Yosemite Valley is a solid choice for a casual meal after a day of exploring the park. It's exactly what you want in a park eatery - delicious pizza, cold drinks (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic), and a relaxed atmosphere.
Finding a table can be a challenge - be prepared for crowds, especially during peak season. The only seating is outdoors on a scenic deck, which is part of the charm, but it also means limited space.
Heads up, it's self-service: You order your food and drinks at a counter inside, then grab a buzzer. When your number's called, you pick up your food at another counter. For refills on drinks or water, you'll need to head back inside. It's just a small thing to keep in mind.
Keep an eye on your food! Those adorable Yosemite squirrels are notorious for pilfering snacks, so don't leave your pizza unattended. Friendly reminder - please don't feed wildlife.
Big plus for dietary needs: They offer gluten-free pizza crust, which was a lifesaver for our group with dietary restrictions. We also appreciated the option to build your own pizza, alongside some unique specialty pizzas and the option to order pizza by the slice.
Two large pizzas were plenty to feed our group of 10. The pizza itself was fantastic - cheesy, with a good salty kick from the meat, and a perfectly cooked crust that wasn't doughy.
Overall, the Pizza Deck is a 4-star experience. Great pizza, beautiful location, and a solid option for a casual meal in Yosemite. Just be prepared for the crowds and the self-service aspect. There's also a grocery store right next door, which is convenient for grabbing any other supplies...
Read moreWent a few years ago and it was the best pizza we had. But fast forward to today and I can not say the same thing. Husband ordered our pizza and when it was ready he went to the pick up window without his mask and the lady actually pulled our pizza away from my husband because he didn't have a mask on. Now mind you, you pick your pizza up OUTSIDE. I fully understand the whole mask ordeal while INSIDE a building. But you pick your pizza up OUTSIDE!! And when he asked for a to go box the lady rolled her eyes like he was asking her to do the hardest thing ever in her life. We did end up getting our pizza which we enjoyed, then I went to get refills for my husband and son (I wore a mask) asked for new cups (because you can not refill your original) the lady handed me one, I told her I need 2 and showed her the 2 original ones I had in my hand, again with the eye roll and heavy sighing. I get my 2 refills and then ask for straws, was told they are outside. I go to the outdoor pick up window and politely ask for 2 straws to which I was told they had none (by the same lady who pulled the pizza away from my husband) I told her that she just gave my son one like 5 minutes ago. She blankly stares at me and turns and walks away to the kitchen behind her and starts doing something else. I told her she was rude and she just stands there and stares at me. Pizza was good but service is the worst!! We will not be eating...
Read moreHere's why u get only 2 stars. I ordered 3 pizzas, 2 came out in 10 min. The third came out 5 min later completely burnt. They pushed it thru the window at me and couldn't understand why I was complaining about it. I requested a second pie be made. Waited another 15 min amd the second pie was also burned. Black burned on the top. We're talking black cheese, pepperoni and crust. Not as bad as the first but very clearly visibly burned. They attempted to serve this one as well. After explaining to them that I have seen numerous pies come out including the 2 we had already gotten that were not burned I would appreciate an edible pie as well. They entire kitchen stood there staring blankly. I told them they should refund my money and got the same blank stare. Decided to choke down the pizza as we were wasting precious time having them cook and recook pizza that was barely recognizable as such. On our way out 45 min from entering the deck the manager came over to us with a large cheese pizza. The manager explained they were sorry and wanted to make it up to us. My response was, offering a large pie that is not the same pie we had ordered 40 min after the initial complaint and having already choked down and filled up on burnt pepperoni pizza was not a way to make amends. Next time handle your issues in a timely manner. Needless to say we never returned for their crusty, crispy, charred pizza the...
