2024 was my first time visiting the annual Greek festival in Oakmont, despite living very close by. I'm very glad I came. The lines do tend to get crowded, but you won't regret waiting. I tried many different items, including a gyro with tzatziki sauce, lemonade, honey balls, finikia, galactoboureko.
Everything was very good. The gyro was great. The line for it moved quickly too. The meat was definitely fresh and pita was warm. They had a little girl help with serving and she was very efficient. Great pita quality. And the sauce was very fresh and clearly homemade. Creamy but not excessively so. Still light with little cucumber chunks. Very good.
The firnika, which are like walnut cookies, were tasty but a bit dry. I wasn’t the biggest fan, but they were quite cheap and still pretty good. The galactoboureko was very good. Not too sweet and nice and creamy. Enjoyed it a lot. These pastries were in the back side of the festival, on the inside of a building.
The Greek honey donuts are made freshly outdoors. This was the longest line I stayed in and it was right outside the pastry area. The donuts were delicious, and you got around 12 mini “donut holes” for $5. Fluffy and not too sweet. Loved them.
All in all, very glad I finally came out to the festival. Delicious food, great atmosphere, lovely people. Would definitely come back again and recommend...
