Walked into Up in the Attic Toys hoping to find a Labubu this afternoon. The man working looked right at me and didn’t say hi or acknowledge me at all, even though I was the only customer in the store. It was completely silent and awkward.
I asked if he had any Labubu figures and, without even looking up, he muttered “behind the counter” and went right back to whatever he was doing. A minute later, he walked right past me and disappeared into the back room like I was invisible. I stood at the counter for a bit longer, waiting to see if he’d return or if anyone would eventually come, no one did.
Ended up walking out because I felt completely unwelcome, like he couldn’t care less whether I was there to buy something or not. Maybe he was having a bad day, but the vibe was uncomfortable and dismissive. Shame, because I was genuinely excited to support the shop and buy a Labubu. Guess it wasn’t meant to be.
Update: Regarding the owner’s response to my original review, I have no reason to lie about my experience. I know that I was not greeted. I was the one who said hello because of how awkward it was. Reviewing camera footage to try to disprove a customer’s experience misses the point entirely.
Also, if you scroll through the shop reviews, it’s clear that I’m not the only one who’s felt this way. There are multiple one-star reviews saying similar things, and each one has a long, defensive reply. At some point, it’s worth asking why the same feedback keeps coming up.
Part of running a business is being open to constructive criticism—not trying to publicly shut down every person who shares their honest experience. Thank you,...
Read moreTook a 1 hr drive up to Up in the Attic Toys last weekend. I wasn't really expecting to find much and was only planning a short visit since I really just wanted to get the family out of the house for the first time since this pandemic. To my surprise I walked in and found a diverse inventory of AMAZING Vintage Toys. I sat and spoke with the owner about toys and collectibles for over and hour and left there with an nice bag of GI Joes figures and vehicles at a WONDERFUL price. He really gave me an amazing deal and I left there wanting to come back as soon as possible. They have a wide variety of stuff from just about every 80s Toy line including Playsets, Vehicles, Figures and even Accessories and Weapons for them. I cannot say enough good things about this store and its owner. If you are a vintage toy collector...as I have been for the last 20 plus years.. this is a place you NEED to visit if you are in the Ocala area. I am really looking forward to my next trip back...
Read moreWalked in today to see what was up with the store because I saw the sign from the road. I was greeted by a friendly woman who welcomed me in and told me to ask if I needed any help. I was feeling pretty good about the store until I saw their "LEGO" section. The vast majority of what they stocked was bootlegs that could be bought for literal pennies from AliExpress. I asked if they had any legitimate LEGO and a male employee jumped in to tell me that it was "real LEGO sourced from LEGO's manufacturer" and that it was the "same molds". The figures very plainly were not from the same molds as they had a variety of minifigures with pieces that LEGO had never produced. The female employee that greeted me was more helpful and pointed me towards a much smaller display that did contain legitimate LEGO, but by that point, I had decided not to buy anything. I do not believe that I will return due to the...
