Had a really bad experience at this salon getting a root touch up with Gina. I really didn't want to leave a bad review here because I've lived at the Jersey shore and it is made up of small businesses and PEOPLE who run these businesses, but I have to leave this one so that others considering trying the salon don't have the same experience I did. I will say I had a good haircut with Brielle prior to this color appointment. I couldn't get on the calendar with Brielle, so I made a last minute decision to go with Gina for my roots. Usually when you book an appointment, your stylist doesn't keep you waiting super long, or at least they let you know they're running behind. Waited a while to get to the back to get my hair done. Wasn't even at a normal chair, was on a chair in the back that had stains on it. I explained to the stylist everything about what I wanted - from having sensitive skin (so really didn't want to walk out with brown all over my head and ears) to my previous root touch up color being slightly off (asked if she could comb through to blend). She didn't really didn't listen. She did a "sloppy job" - direct quote from another stylist at a different salon. (I had to go to Ulta directly afterward and ask the stylist in the back to help me get dye off my head, neck and ears with wipes) I walked out with brown dye all over my ears, neck and head - it looked terrible. Color looked so awkward, with multiple tones in my hair. There were also still grays in my hair?? (This was the whole reason I needed a root touch up, and I didn't even have a lot of grays, but they weren't covered well.) I also had my head burnt while she blow dried the front pieces. The appointment took way longer than I thought - was only supposed to be there about an hour, maybe a little more and it took 2. Gina used a dirty comb in the back by the sink as well. Completely disappointed with my experience. Should not have had to go through this. I communicated about everything after - nothing was done. They didn't even try to make it right. I'm disappointed and I will never go back. Also, immediately told my sister who was considering going there NOT to go. Customer service and experience matters. Doing a good job and taking care of your clients matters. After my bad experience, I found other reviews that the owner does tik tok videos talking to clients who were disappointed and video taping it - if I had seen that before I never would have came. That's not professional at all. Won't be back. I hope whoever reads this gets to avoid the bad experience. Your hair, your money, your time matters. Go somewhere that gets that. Only going to salons that I've been referred to from here on out.
*EDIT - response from owner includes lies and it seems like she's just not interested in helping customers out. I emailed directly and asked her to give me a call. She NEVER responded directly to me / never followed up. The only response I ever got from this issue is her commenting on my review with a nasty tone and lies. I can't believe the lack of care, customer service and kindness that's expected. I had a bad experience here and instead of making it right, choosing to respond with nonsense to my review is all I got. (Which is why I left a review in the...
Read moreDo not waste your money here. For over a $500 head of highlights, I left with unblended roots looking like I never even got my hair done (first pic). I went back and asked them to throw a few highlights in the top to blend it. The stylist literally turned the entire top of my head ORANGE! After much back and forth with the stylist and salon manager, we decided to throw foils on and try to lighten it more. It is still orange/yellow on top, but less so than it was the first go around. You can clearly see (second pic) how the top and bottom half of my hair is entirely two different colors. The top looks HORRIBLE. The picture doesn’t even do it justice. It looks awful- like I applied sun-in.
I have to be a bridesmaid next week and am so embarrassed my hair looks like this. I have been doing my hair blonde for 15 years and have never experienced anything like this in my life. The salon manager tried to argue with me my hair turned orange because of something previously on my hair such as dye (they were my 100% natural roots), hair product (which I only use on my ends infrequently), hard water in the shower (???), vitamin intake (???), ect. They absolutely refused to acknowledge the truth- which is the stylist did not leave the foils on long enough. DUH. I have been getting this done a long time.
I have no problem spending money on my hair for a good quality job. But I paid $500 not including tip to have what looks like sun-in applied to the top half of my head. Not to mention the 14+ hours of my time (and theirs) spent on this atrocity. This salon absolutely butchered my hair color and it will likely take me months to a year to fix this mess. I am DISGUSTED. Avoid this place like the plague.
P.S. this place is obsessed with root taps which done incorrectly and not blended well (like mine) make you look like you need to go get your roots done. I paid for an initial consult (to try to prevent this exact situation from happening!!) and the stylist did not inform me about a root tap whatsoever. I also showed a picture which is nothing even remotely like what I ended up with (the first or second time). If she had discussed a root tap with me, I would’ve declined and this could’ve been avoided. I also suspect this is why the additional highlights pulled orange- because they were done on top of the root tap and not left...
Read moreIf you are in need of a 10/10 wedding make-up & hair team, look no further than White Opal. I met Cass in 2021 when she did my hair when I was the MOH in my cousins wedding. It was my first time meeting her and I said, “I don’t want prom hair.” When she replied, “we don’t do prom hair”, I knew she was my person. (I am sure she would do prom hair and maybe has done prom hair, it wasn’t literal, or maybe it was 🤣 but she knew exactly what I meant and that’s what I needed). I showed her one picture and she literally made my hair look identical (the picture I showed was also of a brunette with the same hair length as mine - so that helped too)! I wasn’t engaged at the time but knew she had to do my hair on my wedding day. Upon getting engaged, White Opal was the first vendor I booked for hair. I asked Cass if she recommended anyone for make-up and she suggested her sister, Lace. Let me say it loud for the people in the back, I WOULD NOT HAVE TRUSTED ANYONE ELSE ON MY WEDDING DAY. Cass and Lace are the dynamic sister-duo you never knew you needed, especially on your wedding day. What could already be a chaotic and stressful morning, Cass and Lace have the most calming energy that every bride needs. Along with Cass & Lace were a few other stylists who were the sweetest and most patient gems. In addition to AMAZING hair & make-up, Cass, Lace, & the team were on time and had all 10 of us ready with time to spare for touch-ups if needed.
My hair & make-up lasted all day and night, and so did my bridesmaids! My husband, who can be SUPER picky about hair & make-up (🙄), is also making me add to this review that he gives White Opal a...
