Tandoori East India Restaurant
My family and I have been coming to Tandoor East India Restaurant for over 20 years and have never been disappointed with the food or service. Yesterday’s meal was no exception. The waiter couldn’t have been more attentive. It’s owned by Singh and his wife, the chef. It’s truly home cooking at its best. They have been in business over 33 years in the same location which shows its success. He has always been the most welcoming host who is happy to explain what the specific menu items are and make recommendations if asked. We have had many of the dishes over the years and enjoyed them all. We’ve ordered the Vegetable Samosa appetizer, Muliktawany soup (chicken w lentils) is rich and flavorful and can almost be a meal. The naan bread, with or without garlic, is soft and fluffy which we usually wipe our plates with to get the last bit of sauce. We’ve had the following dishes: Chicken Tikka Masala, or Curry. Lamb, actually goat Curry, Vindaloo, Rogan Josh. Saag Paneer, Chana Masala, Baingan Bhartha, so good (roasted eggplant w tomatoes onions n herbs), Golden Dal. Shrimp Biryani is flavorful and cooked to perfection with crisp fresh shrimp. Mango Lassi is wonderful. The quality and quantity of the food has never wavered over all these years. I recommend you try this place it if you like...
Read moreI started eating lunch with colleagues at this restaurant since early 1990's. This restaurant has been my favorite lunch place. Although it's a bit drive from where we work, we were all very happy to make the effort because it is quiet and the food is good and plenty (for lunch buffet), not to mention that the owner is one of the nicest restaurant managers I have ever met. I always feel being home when I eat there.
The price for lunch buffet is very reasonable, especially that I always get $1 off as the vegetarian bonus, while my meat-eater friends get to eat the tasty chicken tandoori, etc. I like the freshly made naan bread and the vegetarian curry dishes - cauliflower, broccoli, lentil, green pea, or chick pea. I don't know about the meat dishes but they appear just as good. The dishes are changed often. There are always a couple of desert dishes to enjoy at the end.
I usually call them 1 day ahead if our group is large than 4, otherwise we would just pop in. I have never been there for dinner due to the distance from where I live. The owner told me that evening business is busier than lunch. You may want to call them and make reservations if you plan to have dinner there.
This is a family owned and operated restaurant. I have watched their children growing from little kids to helpful teens right at...
Read moreFor one the food is completely over priced!!! I drive an hour away usually to go to this place and every time I go it’s an issue with my order. The owner has a terrible attitude and doesn’t care about the customers. For better pricing and better customer services do yourself a favor and take the trip to Edison off oak tree road where the food there is very authentic and prices are excellent. Within one square mile there is literally 10-20 different restaurants to choose from. This place is taking advantage of people who aren’t aware. I was there last night 2-18-22 and I told the owner I was going to leave a bad review and his response was “ oh well go ahead”. I did request all my money back as I waited almost an hour in the dining room because the lady gave my order to doordash but mind you I called 45mins prior of ordering my food before the hour wait after I got there. I’m an avid Indian food eater and will definitely not go here ever again. $16.99 for a tiny small plastic container of lentils is absurd!! Stop wasting your hard earned money!! The food is not all that for the price you are paying I promise you.The only reason why my wife and I did come here is because we live in Howell and Edison is a bit of a hike for us but most definitely will be taking the hike...
