I’ve been a Broad Street customer for a few years now. I used to live about ten minutes away and would visit weekly. Now my home is about a half hour drive, but I still manage to go a couple times a month. To me, Broad Street is about much more than doughnuts. There’s a sense of community and family in here that I seldom experience anywhere else. The staff could not perform their jobs any better. They’re knowledgeable, personable and - most obviously - competent. The execution they’re capable of while under the enormous pressure so often placed on them by very long lines is remarkable and something I always notice when I’m there. The truth is that they’re doing more than assembling pastries; they’re cultivating an art form the likes of which are rarely experienced. I’ve been to doughnut shops all over the country and I believe that even bad doughnuts are pretty good. But the efficacy with which Broad Street is able to craft quality doughnut after quality doughnut is unrivaled. The quality comes from the sheer fact that their base doughnut - a plain traditional doughnut - is simply perfection in every way. Perfectly moist, tender, warm and noticeably fresh. It doesn’t need anything added to it, but the smorgasbord of fixings that are creatively infused into each doughnut transforms the perfect base into something extraordinarily novel and refreshing. It’s like eating every good memory from your childhood. It’s like taking a bite out of the freedom and liberty we’ve become so attached to that we forget we posses. I am and always will be amazed that a doughnut can inspire so many rich and delectable emotions in me. I am always happy to come here and even happier when my order is up and I’m holding a box of unlimited happiness that was surely made with an abundance of love. My favorite...
Read moreWent there after hearing all of the praise for their donuts. I wanted to try their cotton candy donuts, which the employees had told me were specialty donuts. I asked them how to order a specialty donut and they instructed me to write the name of the donut on the bottom of the donut selection sheet (which I did) and then write the amount of each specialty donut that I wanted (which I did). I ended up ordering 2 dozen donuts to bring home to family, while having 3 of those donuts be cotton candy ones for myself. While I was ordering, I even double and triple checked that the employee saw the specialty donut that I had marked down. What a surprise it was when I went home with all of the donuts and opened the box up to find no cotton candy donuts. Instead, they were replaced with donuts that I hadn’t selected at all. If you don’t have the donuts, tell us. It’s ridiculous to charge me extra for specialty donuts without actually giving me specialty donuts. I hope that this was, in-fact, an error on the part of the employees and not an intentional replacement, especially since I tipped them for their, otherwise, great service.
Tl;dr: Donuts were good. Ordered 2 dozen and wanted 3 of them to be “specialty” cotton candy donuts. Paid the specialty price for the 3 donuts and received a random selection of 3 donuts instead of...
Read moreGreat donuts.. but the last time I went there the lady literally told me I couldn’t order anymore donuts because “I had to give other people a chance to order too”. Also I was ordering donuts from their instagram and halfway thru she told me I couldn’t order anymore old styles and could only order what was currently on the menu. To give context.. I got a dozen and a half donuts (I wanted to get more as I was coming from a different state very far away and wanted to bring donuts back to friends and family) and it was empty when I got there but once I started ordering 3-4 people got in line behind me and I’ll admit I was getting all different kinds of donuts so it was a tedious order and I should have ordered ahead of time I guess (idek if they do that). Oh and also after that whole ordeal they forgot to give me the churro bites I ordered. So all in all, not to sound too much like a Karen cuz I know I had a difficult order.. their customer service could have been better but they have great donuts.. just only order small batches of maybe like 6 because they don’t like big orders and only order what’s currently on the menu cuz they don’t like making old varieties from...
